How many of you keep a "backup vehicle"?

When wife and I was working, I had three cars with two of us driving. We would put over 20k miles each car every year and if one breaks down, I would have time to fix it cheaply and stil had a car to drive as we were never in same driving area so carpool was out of the question. Looks like our jobs owned us. Now, my oldest took our spare malibu for college and work and my middle son will be driving in few months. Lord help us. This might lead to four cars on the road. Oh the insurance!

Way too many but I can cut back anytime I want !
Got a 2014 F350 last December, that left my '94 F350 7.3 IDI that I bought new that is up to a whopping 95,000 miles.
Also left my Ram 2500 Cummins with 140,000 miles all three with Fisher plows , 9 1/2' stainless V on the '14
Looks like my son will be taking the Dodge, he needs it more than I do !
Girlfriend got a '14 Jeep Wrangler this summer( she wanted to go topless and I talked her out of an Audi TT !) I end up using it as a daily driver, fun little piece with good mileage,at least in my world !
That left her '03 Volvo XC70 with 220,000 and her son's '03 Honda CRV with 140,000 that we ended up with.

Night before last she called me on her way home and said it sounded like she had a flat tire. Nothing showing so I called the dealer and headed that way yesterday. Made it half way there when the rear tire tried to fall off . Had one lug nut left on the left rear tire. Volvo dealer had put new snow tires on it a month ago ! Dealer was pretty good about trading the Honda and Volvo on a '15 XC60 ? Made a pretty big splash when I showed up at her work with it sitting out front with the big red bow on it ! Done with her Christmas present !
Guess baby should go too, way too much iron to take care of so if you know anyone that needs a '94 F350 SRW
With the Zombi proof turbo diesel let me know ! Be a sad day to see her go but as the country song says' sell your truck while it's running '!

Those were my favorite Fords! I need another truck like another hole in my head, but those rigs are some of the best. I'm trying to resist PM'ing you for more info!

Reg cab, 8' bed, studded Goodyear Duratracks on now, Summer tires on wheels in barn, tool box, bed liner, amber mini strobe lightbar. New batteries and glow plugs - runs like new, looks like she will be running long after the newer ones!

By the posts looks like the average is just over 3 per household with 2 drivers.

We were at 3 for many years, Crown Vic, 2000 Tundra 140K, 2004 Lexus LS430 60K, then sold the Crown Vic a few years ago then wife wanted small SUV instead of driving the Tundra around, so we bought 2015 Outback this fall for "runaround car".

The Lexus is three seasons and "trip" car, Tundra is my airport car, hauling, dump runs - just put 2 new fenders - rusted out and painted front end so its good for another 100K. The new Outback is great on gas 28MPG is nice to drive too.

Wife and I have 5 vehicles. I am planning on getting rid of the old 96 Deville. I used to travel for work a lot and it was a good freeway living room on wheels. But for normal driving I prefer the newer cars now.

Wife has a 2015 Prius. I drive a 2011 Corolla which only has 10,000 miles on it. My backup is a 2000 Tacoma PreRunner. Seriously considering trading the Tacoma and the Corolla in on a 2016 Colorado - give'em one year to work out the bugs. One car, one truck is all we need.

Back Up ? I drive a company provided F150 that they replace yearly and luckily they provide the fuel too. My wife has an Explorer that gets about 500 miles per year put on it. ( 2004 with 30K miles) My back up is my 89 F350 Plow truck. Seldom needed but hauls a cord of wood with no squat.. Fun old beast that pushes snow with a Boss V plow like a champ..

There are two of us in the household and we have four cars. My wife drives a 2009 diesel Jetta. I have a 2010 M3, a 20005 Elise, and a 2003 1500HD. I've had the Lotus for ten years now so I will might put it on the block in the spring because I'd really like to get to three cars. The problem is that I like them too much!

Just me and 25 vehicles insured... most are antique/collector policy.

Guess I could say I have 24 backups...

I did drive the Model A for about a week straight once... the weather was perfect and my truck needed a heater core so I just parked it for a few days.
