How to build a snow plow for use on a skid steer

SSQA Plow Here is the link for my Quick Attach plow design. I don't think it would work for a bobcat, but it gives you some ideas.

look at my snowplow build Pictures on page 2 now "Snow Plow started" . (Sorry, do not know how to link.)
This design could be easily mounted to a skid steer QA plate. It would extend about 30" beyond the front of the QA plate. The AFrame could be pinned if you do not want to use hydraulics to to angle the blade.
I will take more pictures showing my progress tomorrow.
I picked up 2 western snowplow angle cylinders and some skid shoes at the Princess Auto parts on sale a while ago. I still need to get a crossover relief valve and a lift cylinder. The blade I had rolled at a local shop and most of the rest of the steel from the scrap pile.

Why would you need a lift cylinder?

Because you can't drive around with the plow down all the time.

If he's mounting a plow on the skid steer quick attach plate he won't need a lift cylinder. He has the loader arms to raise the blade.

If you read who he was quoting, "camshawn" you would have known that he was frame mounting his snow plow and therefore would need hydraulic means of raising the blade. Thanks though!

Hello,
Thanks for all the replies, but I still don't understand all of it. A couple of you guys were talking about a lift cylinder....I don't need one since I can use the loader arms to maintain my proper height when plowing. There is a place near me in Shippensburg , Pa. that sells them.....an Amish guy has a business that makes them. I think I need to go there and look at some examples. I have found out that any way you cut it, snow plows aren't cheap. I would like to make my own, but start with a $179.00 quick attach plate and then find a reasonable snow plow....500.00 or so and I still don't have any attachment mechanism made at that point. It might be better in the long run to just get the Amish guy to make one the way I want it. I don't think I need to have hydraulics....just pin the plow at a 20 or 25 degree angle and go from there. It seems like it should be fairly simple, but I'm not sure.

Smaller scale, but same rules apply. I pushed my driveway for years with a homemade blade on the front of several JD SCUTs. Manual angle. I was happy. Then I splurged and bought a hydraulic angle blade to use on the JD2210. Now,,,, I'm reallllllyyyyyyy happy. :dance1:

Camshawn said the snow plow could be mounted to the skid steer QA plate which would not need a lift cylinder. I did not search for Camshawn's post on how or what he is mounting his to. His post in this thread didn't say he was frame mounting his plow. It can only be assumed he is frame mounting if he needs a lift cylinder.

I am indeed frame mounting my snowplow on my tractor, hence the need for a lifting method. My old frame mounted plow on the small tractor was just bolted at about 25 degrees. I never did unbolt it to change the angle, just never seemed worth the time when there was snow to be moved. IF I had a lot of snow, I would have to plow down hill making 2 or 3 passes to make up for the lack of horsepower.

Here are several pictures of my plow as it sits today. The A-frame could easily be mounted on a SSQA plate. The A-frame could also be bolted at 25 degrees right or left or strait instead of the hydraulic angle. I have more money now than 25 years ago so I am going with the hydraulics.
I have invested about $300 in steel so far in this project. This was mostly the blade supplied and rolled by a local shop.
