How to follow water pipe?

/ How to follow water pipe? #61
As a teenager, now 71, I watched a welldriller take a peach limb and walk around holding it with two hands, occasionally he would make a skuff mark on the ground, eventually he marked a spot and began drilling, Yep, he hit water. He showed me how to do it, saying it worked for some people and not for others. I now have two pieces of brazing rod bent at 90 degrees, with wooden handles drilled so the rods move freely. I have found my septic line, I have found water lines for neighbors and had a lot of fun with these "Divining Rods". I have no idea why or how they work but they do. Any doubters living near Western Maryland, feel free to contact me for a demo.

I used to own a cabin by a lake. When we finally got electricity installed I decided to dig a well and have running water. My neighbor was a dowser and offered to find a water for me. He marked a line where I should place the well and told me that the stream is small. Because of trees and because the soil is quite sandy I decided to place the well about 2 -3 feet away from the line. Since the well was near a lake I expected the water level will be somewhat above the lake level in about 4-5ft depth. I was already at about 8ft and saw no water. Then I noticed that one side (in direction where I was supposed to place the well) of the hole was wet and I just thrust my shovel in the spot. Almost didn't make out of the hole. Water started to rush in and the whole hole collapsed. When it was over there was only depression in the ground. I dug new hole in the same place but connected it with the stream by a cavity filled with gravel. 30 years later it still produces water.
I tried dowsing but it didn't work for me until he grabbed my forearm. In that instant the branch just twisted in my hand until all the bark was striped away.
My ex tried that and it worked for her.

As a teenager, a neighbor showed me the bent coat hanger method, and I was amazed I could make it work to find a buried water line. I later used it while working for an uncle who had a septic tank business, and was able to trace lines from the house to locate the septic tank.

When I built a new house 3 years ago, I asked the well drilling company if they had any way to predict a good site to drill... they directed me to a local dowser who they had drilled behind and had good luck... The driller told me "he won't take any money because he thinks that would be wrong for a God given talent... but he will take a bottle of vodka as a gift..." I got a laugh out of that one. The fellow came out to my property and marked the spot to drill... he even had me hold one fork of his stick and walked me over the spot... honest to God I could not keep the stick from turning to the ground.

Long story short, the well company drilled at that spot and hit muddy water on top of rock at about 30'... but no volume... 605' later they got 4 gal./min. I guess my dowser located the puddle on top of the bedrock ok, but sure missed out on the location for a good well!

Funny? I "call before you dig" several times per year so I don't find any buried items with my excavator that I don't want to find. I used to ask them about guys with two wires or two sticks locating the lines. Every one busts out laughing and asks, if it works, why hasn't anyone ever proven it and claimed the cash? He said in their training, they have a whole chapter devoted to watch out for a certain group of people who believe in witchcraft in finding buried lines and how to simply smile and avoid them.

I DO live outside the city and I did lose the end of a wire I buried with a PVC pipe going to my front barn. I did ask several of these 'believers' to see if they could help me. I'll save you the details, but with water flowing in the pipe, without water flowing in the pipe etc., none did anything but make me shake my head in wonder in what a grown man will believe. I finally had to spend an hour or so hand digging to find my wire and then all was well. So, to the OP, officially, you are SOL if you don't bury metalic tape or a wire with PVC pipe.

I did look at some of the You Tube video of witching. You could almost puke listening the theories and how and why not. One lady even talked to the metal rods and asked questions. Another guy had about a 3 ft stick, and when he came across water, the stick whipped up and down like it was possessed. Do these people hang around until the well is developed?

Pendulum's, asking a yes or no question, you got to be kidding. Using the pendulum to find gold and heal people. Oh, and the 5th element that we all have but only a few are blessed with the ability to use it. If I could do something like this, I would put on shows and find stuff for anyone for free, because if you charge for your services, it just won't work. Sure I promise. Trust me. Yea, all right.

How about oil, wouldn't that be a blessing for everyone.

Sure would be nice to find Blackbeard's treasure.

How deep is the water mama, and how pure is it, and do I dig hear or thar.

Why not try that remote viewing and send me a map of my sprinkler system.

I'm still a doubter about the water well part of it.

J.J. - Maybe you're not wearing the right hat.

I have a pvc water line coming to my house that takes a weird path. I will pay $1000 plus your reasonable expenses to anyone who can come and accurately mark it with this method.

PM me if you're willing to try it.

Yep, the hat spins around when he finds water.

You can almost bet he is bald from finding all that water.
