How to load a grease gun ?

Don't feel to bad. The first time I tried to load one I made a mess. I finally got it in and then I never could get it to work. I did not know about air pockets. I threw it in the bottom of my tool chest and forgot about it for a couple of years. So when I bought my first tractor years later I bought 2 grease guns. One for a flex hose, one with a rigid spout. Then I found the one I forgot I had /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. So now I have 3 grease guns. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have the same type of gun as shown in your attachment. I loaded the thing last week, used up almost one whole roll of paper towels, and grease everywhere. Thank you for asking the question so that next time I don't have to spend one whole hour to load the gun and half an hour to wash off the grease.

Wipe the Zerk fitting before you grease so you don't push dirt into it. Wipe again after to keep the mess down (not as important as the first wipe!)

You can get bright colored Zerk caps to keep the dirt out and help to locate them.

We should apprach these chinese grease gun makers with detailed diagrams showing how to load them. We'll be rich from the royalties. Just kidding. But diagrams would be worth a thousand words and a roll of paper towels, at the very least. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
