Hey all,

Decided to consult those much more experienced than I. This soft steering hose on my MF 30B has blown -- spraying fluid everywhere. No biggie, I'll just get a new one. Except.. how do I get this thing off???

Cut it with a thin wheel grinder and yank it off. Be careful not to hit the metal pipe.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance, but this is my first time working with connectors of this type. When you say to cut it with a thin wheel grinder, are you saying to cut on the flange of the metal fitting?

What does the other ends of the tube that hose connects to look like? I suspect that hose and tube has connections at the ends of the tubes you unscrew. The hose ends are crimped and not something you can typically remove and replace

So you're saying I likely need to take the whole thing off and take it to the hydraulic shop?

Yes… unless you can source one.

Whenever I work with similar my go to wrenches are flare nut so I can apply max torque without damage…

Never needed heat on a line fitting but there are times a little heat can do wonders.

I’ve seen in the field temp repairs on the low pressure return side with new hose and doubling stout hose clamps. Since this is squirting I think it’s a high pressure line.

take the whole line off, take it to a shop, they may be able to just replace the hose section for you.

Yes. That's by far the best way. Unscrew the flange connections at the ends of the steel lines and the hose will bend enough so you can take the whole piece down to the hydaulic shop. There they will use high pressure crimp connectors to fasten a new piece of hose in place.

Welcome to TBN!

Here is the illustration from the 30B diesel book to give you an idea what you're dealing with.
