I am looking for advice from B series Backhoe owners who transport their rigs occasionally to job sites.
Being new to transporting my rig, I'm asking here because I've gotten good advice in the past.
I feel that a good tiedown from the front weight bracket can be achieved.
My B2710 has a subframe mount and interferes with a good secure tie down from the rear drawbar of the tractor.
Can I tie down from the subframe?
I'll be using 5/16" transport grade 70 chains and ratchet chain binders in the traditional vee configuration front and back.
I also plan to pin the BH laterally to prevent side to side movement & lower the bucket and dipper stick to the trailer deck to remove some weight from the Kub. Comments will be appreciated.

My concern was picqued recently when a trailer dealer commented on the
high incident of tractors with BackHoes that break in half from incorrect trailering/ tiedowns. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ....RayBee

My hoe is also a subframe mount. On mine it came with a pretty good sized bracket to secure the hoe for transport, which locks it in nearly the full "up" position. There's also a pin that keeps the dipper from moving from side to side. I don't take mine anywhere, so I never use 'em, but that is what is recommended in the manual (mine's a Woods).

number one,
you have to have three separate tie downs. The front, the rear and the hoe separately. what we do is use wratchet strap on the hoe part and chains on the machine.. Mass/Ct state cops will check for it too.

With smaller backhoes like Kubota, it's not too much of a problem when dealing with the hoe, as far as putting it down. You can leave it up or put it down, but each machine is different and you may have more side-to-side motion in the hoe. When you transport large backhoes like case, you SHOULD put the hoe down, because many people have ripped the hoe right off when going under a bridge or something. On our case backhoes, there are 4 hooks, two in front near the tires, and two in the back near the tires. That's where we tie down our machines. The hoe stays still when lowered. I don't know how the bottom of a kubota looks. I posted a pic. of my backhoe and where the hook is.
