You can ask if they can get the bucket on the next shipment they order for other products to maybe save you some $. If it makes you feel any better, my 12 bucket was about $1000 as well.

My Kubota dealer has two shipping fees, cheaper one is to wait on their next bulk shipment, or need it quicker, it is the FedEx fee. They are very fair on shipping and do not have a one fits all. That is another boondoggle by shippers. Makes me use Amazon Prime. You have to be careful with their independents not on Prime. $20 item, $33 shipping. Naturally I did not bite.

I see plenty of businesses that do that so they must not enforce it. And itç—´ perfectly legal to mark up the price 3 percent or whatever youæ±*e paying the CC and then offer a 3 percent cash discount.

Most retailers do not have a cash price anymore. One told me that his CC contract charges him on gross sales regardless. I question that.

Ditto. I see it WAY too often if it truly is illegal. Not just small mom and pop shops either.

Heck, the state BMV website charges to use a CC. Nothing with EFT. Phone company (pretty large business) same thing. Our own county treasurer....3% fee to use a CC to pay your property taxes. Nothing to pay cash or check

These places contract with a third party to process CC payments so they do not have to mess with it. It is a legitimate fee I guess. I alwys pay by check in those cases; still a place for checking accounts for awhile.

Curious..... how would a credit card company know your gross sales?

Just look at a utility bill or a cell phone statement etc...

Yep!
That is why I never agree to automatic payements.
I want to monitor what 'extras' they are about to add 'for my protection'.

OK, for some suppliers automatic is a very good option.

Had a free 'included protection package' when I once purchased a new computer.
When the 'free plan' expired I suddenly received an invoice for a huge amt as they claimed I would want the best protection available.
Immediately I contacted my CC card and had the fees annulled. with no problems.
I later signed up for one of the more available on line free computer programs.
Some 8-10 years later and I have never had a 'phish' scam or other problem.

Don't always believe everything the scammers try to influence to believe.
Those are "boiler factories' working on commissions to coerce you.

It is a signed contract, that gives them the power to force it, same as those commercial leases that require a percentage of gross sales.

Ron

Ok, if a business is crazy enough to sign that they will pay their credit card company a percentage of their gross sales (not card sales) then provide all their cash, check, and money order sales to said card company they deserve giving away their money.

This is nothing new. In the late '80s I needed a speedometer cable for my motorcycle and the only place to get it was at the local Yamaha dealer. I had to pay up front; plus a fee to order it... and a "restocking" fee. I had to have it though, so paid the price.

It sounds like the OP answered his own question. Businesses, banks and government have found that "fees" are another way of making money. I paid to have the oil changed in my pickup; they tacked on a $3.00 "oil disposal fee." The garage has a waste oil furnace.

I have a repair shop friend with a waste oil furnace.
He told me he pays $150 each year to have it maintained.
The first 50 oil change customers each year would pay for his furnace upkeep.
After that: It must go in his pocket.
And......free heat all winter long!

When I had my business I knew other business owners who added processing fee to the invoice as a surcharge.
Instead of that I figured out what % paid by cash/check vs credit card. My credit card processor charged me 2.9%.
With me, about 80% paid with credit card.
So this bucket instead of $852.00 I would charge $871.75.
No surcharge, that plus shipping/handling.
Another way to do it is a discount for cash. So simply something like $875 paid by credit card , $850 if cash.
Added fees or extra charges don't bode well with customers.
