Ahh, then it's more of a statement than bogus charge. They're trying to point the finger at just exactly why the charge was added.

I bought a new bx2380 about a month ago and when I went in to finalize the deal they had tacked on ??($1k) for the extended warranty I never asked for or discussed with anybody and had failed to deduct the $1030 visa down payment I paid when I ordered it. I told the fellow to remove the extended warranty and asked why he hadn't deducted the down payment. He deducted both, saying he had forgotten about the down payment. This was a Kubota dealer. I was pretty pleased with my buying experience until this closing deal but as I left there I felt like I had just bought a new car; same old BS same old crap!

Yup.... they will try to get you any way they can.
The error is NEVER in the buyer's favor.

I would bet they wouldn't quibble over $29 if it means losing a $1,000 sale.

That may be related to the 25% import tariff on Canadian steel (and 10% on aluminium). I am not trying to or interested in starting a political discussion or figure out good or bad, but this is likely the side effect.

Hmmm- the only big thing I've bought lately is my new Ram Power Wagon. They sure had enough add on fees but nothing listed as a surcharge. Since it was assembled in Mexico - somewhat surprised that there wasn't an import fee, or visa fee or green card fee.

Could it be because the purchase was a credit card purchase. Some businesses are passing on the Vista/Master Charge, charge for large price item sales.

How else are you going to pay an online transaction? They have a dealer selling for the same price on eBay which hits them for 14 percent. I’ve already tried to go direct and leave save the 14 percent and they wouldn’t.

They know how much steel cost. Adjust the selling price accordingly. If the listing price was $30 higher I’d have never blinked an eye. I’ve kicked around the idea of the 1k bucket for a while because that hurts but now I have work lined up for it so I’m getting one one way or another.
