Is there anything more inanely stupid than the weather stations having goofball reporters standing out in the storm and water?

I was watching one a while ago that had a fire truck and an police officer in the background, and the lady said she was standing in a "foot and a half" of water. Clearly the camera showed the water was just under halfway up a pair of rubber boots that didn't reach her knees. So maybe she meant two feet and halfway up to her knees???

Serves no purpose for general public but it's good for their careers like soldiers having battle experience.
It would be quite funny watching the idiots trying to describe what is being shown if it was not so stupid...

Well, I myself was quite impressed by the educational value of what was being shown on CNN all day today. Very interesting, and a lot of good safety tips as well. I bet they saved some lives by warning and showing people just how vicious the hurricane was, thus keeping people from being silly about going out and being hurricane tourists, or sticking around and "toughing it out".

what 'educational" tidbit did you find most valuable?

I personally find the standing in salty, brackish storm surge while live power lines and transformers are being impacted very impressive. Ooooh! Look at those blue-green flashes...I keep TWC recording in the DVR in case I get to catch one of these idiots getting electrocuted.

Looks like Irma was a dud. Media way over blew this, a few trees lots of power outages. Dodged the bullet. Media has to search for serious damage this morning.

Hardly a dud...credit goes to the people of FL that aren't afraid or too proud to prepare and evac. when they are warned...chalk it up to experience...

I agree. While every hurricane is a big deal, the media when nuts over this one and blew it way out of proportion. Now when the next one comes, people will be less likely to believe the warnings, and eventually it will be like Katrina again, when nobody believed how bad it would be because they over did it so many times and nothing happened.
