Hurricane Irma

What really blows (no pun intended)! is the fact that the power companies are shutting off the power to areas that are zoned non-evac just because they are part of the same grids as the evacuated areas...
Granted the power is likely to go down in any given area within this storm but it's no fun sitting in a boarded up home with no power and dense humid heat bearing down on you...

This is a cool site. I wonder how accurate the animations are because I don't see any movement that supports the steering they are predicting for this storm.

earth :: a global map of wind, weather, and ocean conditions

You do need to refresh the data/image if you wish to have the most recent information. Just hit the little curved arrow up on the menu bar. You know, the one that looks like a hurricane in the mirror. ;-)

If you are a skeptic, Do a test, go set a gallon of gas on fire... now multiply that by what we use worldwide every single day... If you don't think man can screw up the world... your dead wrong. It's getting hotter in our little fish bowl. :2cents:

Analogies are fun, but you need to lift the relativity.

How much energy is release upon our earth with the present solar flares?
And, how much energy is released in a Mt. St. Helens event?

And then, and the bottom line, How much energy is radiated back out into space, the space between the stars, with every fraction of a degree of global temperature change? We are really not talking about the heat content of a barrel of crude. After all, If that energy had not been sequestered by plant growth, we very likely would not be here today.

Puny man The erth will be here when we are not IN SPITE of our efforts to short the inevitable.

Will plants be our saving grace...again?

Is there anything more inanely stupid than the weather stations having goofball reporters standing out in the storm and water?

The page refreshes every time you click on the link but the wind speed info will remain where I had clicked on the map. You do need to click back on the storm wall after the page loads for updated wind information on the storm wall.

Serves no purpose for general public but it's good for their careers like soldiers having battle experience.
