Re: hurtin\' this morning...

My sympathies to you and your wife. I agree with the others about getting another dog ASAP. Also, like others, we almost always get our dogs at the SPCA and rescue one from the 'grim reaper'. Our latest is a white female huskie/shepherd mix. She was brought to the SPCA pregnant and, of course, all the puppies went almost immediately, leaving only the faithful mom. This wonderful dog also had one of her front paws crushed by something and it was never repaired. The vet said all the structure was there, it was just flattened. She gets along well with our other 2 dogs and even seems to peacefully exist with the cats. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: hurtin\' this morning...

Thanks to all you guys for your kind thoughts and support....you bring tears back into my eyes that I thought were dry, but I guess its all part of the grieving process.

Our other dog, a wonderful Rhodesian Ridgeback/Yellow Lab/Redbone mix is a bit confused by this. Although he was not there when it occured, he knows something is up and has been looking for his friend and ours. He is busy both being consoled and consoling us.

The cats will miss Bons a lot....Burnt Toast, our black Bengal, slept nightly with the always snoring Bonsai. Haven't seen Toast since this occured. Funny how they all know something is different without talking about it. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Samantha, frequently noisy anyway, has whined almost constantly.

Re: hurtin\' this morning...

I am sorry about your loss. It never is easy to lose a pet but do remember the many good times that the little one brought all of you. We all have been blessed with these best friends but all know that these sad times will come.

We have a Giant Schnauzer and two rescue cats. We know there are three sad days coming so we do our best to enjoy the companionship each and every day.

Re: hurtin\' this morning...

Boy do I know how you feel. I just lost one of my guys in Feb.
Like everyone else has said, take stock of all the good times and all the love you gave as well as recieved. It really helps.

Re: hurtin\' this morning...

wasabi,

I'm real sad to hear of your loss. I hope the wifey is not
taking this to hard and blaming herself.

I was looking at some pictures this morning of my kid and
Chase. Chase has a large tumor and is doing well so far but
its only a matter of time.....

I knows where you are coming from... Been There Done That and Got the T Shirt. And I'll be doing it again.... /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Later...

Re: hurtin\' this morning...

Sorry about your loss. I often worry about my wifes little Jack Russell Terrier who always greets me. She just disappears around the truck sometimes. My white husky mix is big enough to see.

Time will heal but the good memories will stay forever.

Re: hurtin\' this morning...

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. It's truly amazing how much a member of your family a pet becomes over time. I've had to have two dogs put down in my life and those were two of the toughest things I've ever done even though in each instance it was the best thing. Time will pass and the pain will lessen. The memories of all the good times you had together will remain forever.
