Husqvarna 322T AWD

/ Husqvarna 322T AWD #41
Hi All,

I'm new to this forum. I found it by doing a search for the Husqvarna 322T... I'm really interested in getting one. I think it would suit my needs better than a tractor or zero turn.

Pls keep up the reviews and new info on it. I'd like to know if there are any new problems/insights with the mower since you've bought one. Also would like to know if they are strongly supporting it here in the states or if sales are dictating that it gets faded out... I think it's been out since 2012?

I saw the UK 524 version and like that even more. Wish they would import that one. The design is so much better looking... More rugged.

Welcome to the form.
Yes, the Husqvarna R322T is a very interesting alternative to either a garden tractor or zero turn.
I agree with you on wanting a more rugged Rider.
Is the 524 the one that comes with the Kubota diesel engine ?
I would prefer a diesel.
I don't think Husqvarna will do much about improving the present line of Riders, for awhile.
I don't think they will stop offering the present line here in North America either.
They just recently stopped offering the Agri-Fab two stage snow blower, but you've probably read about that already on this forum.
What needs to you have in a tractor ? Mowing, snow removal ? ? ?

There is another forum that has a growing following for the R322T.
One of it's members (SwedishRider) has had his R322T since 2012 and is probably one of the most knowledgeable members on the R322T.
He has helped me many times with my questions.
Turkey2731 is also very active on that site and very knowledgeable.
Here is a link to one of the longest running posts about the R322T, on that site.
It is very interesting reading.

glad to have you on board

I would prefer a diesel.

I believe the diesel is the 520D and 525D in the UK... I noticed that the price is $17500 pounds for the 524 gas version. Doesn't that equal $19,269 US? Can that be right?

I want the 524!

I'm not sure about the currency exchange rate, you are probably correct on the dollar amount though.
I was actually looking at getting another Kubtota before I found out about the R322T.
I was looking for a back-up riding snow blower that my wife would be comfortable with.
The most reasonable priced Kubota that was AWD and had mower and snow blower attachments
was a GR2120 with mower and snow blower would have cost about $12k to $13k.
and it's the same horse power as the R322T.
So the 524 for about $19k is probably very reasonable.
Is there a cab available for the 524 ?
I'd really like to have a cab for the R322T.

I'm wondering about the wheel weights - the wheel weights I bought from Husqvarna for my GHT26V52LS tractor type mower have bolts that go trough the wheels. My Rider has solid rims like those on your R322T, so I really don't know how they'd mount the weights.

I'm not sure how they would mount either, but here they are.
I thought it was an interesting idea on wheel weights without the holes for mounting bolts.

It has a bearing mounted in it, which maybe fits around the axle, behind the wheel ? ? ?
If that's correct, then weight would be added to the axle and they would not be a true wheel weight like the bolt on kind as we are use to.
(Just thinking out loud) I am probably not even close how these things would install.

Don't know that these could be found here in the states.
These are advertised to work on the Husqvarna Rider 175.
I think the wheel/tires are the same on the 175 and my 322T.
Owner manual for the 175 and OM for the 322T list tire dimensions as 16 x 6.50 x 8 my tires are stamped 165/60-8
I think that maybe your 155 would have the same size also.

DHD, I'm pretty sure those wheel weights mount behind the wheels in lieu of the spacer. The bearing adds a vital feature. With fixed style weights bolted to the wheel the engine/transaxle must accelerate and decelerate that rotational mass. With wheel weights that are free to spin on bearings the load on the drive train is reduced. This is true for liquid filled tires, too.

While researching these wheel weights with bearings, I found one site that called them "Transmission friendly wheel weights"

Here's a Service bulletin about the wheel weights for other Riders, and it's got pictures so even I can understand what's going on.
Actually the top one, for Rider 970, would probably work, it's P/N 953 51 59-01
That phone number " 606-678-9623" on the very top of the Service Bulletin is for K & T Saw Shop Shop in Somerset, Kentucky

That's a great find. Very useful. I poured 18-pound lead weights for my JD LX277. They didn't spin, but fit behind the wheel and fixed with set screws. Even though I could pour more for the 322T, I think I'll go with RimGuard because it will add a little more lateral stability than inboard weight.

Interesting concept. It seems to do the same job as the flail mower, but is slightly narrower. I suspect it could chop through thicker weeds and brush than the flail mower would.

New topic ... my brand new R322T AWD with 4/10 hour has a transmission leak at the back of the front transmission. I am told I can use it but check before and after use the fluid level in the reservoir.
Husqvarna has a service bulletin about the leak but can't seem to tell me if it is the trans case or just a seal causing the slow drip. Waited 7 weeks to get it from Sweden and used it once. Husq service dealer 60 miles away says they are 2 weeks full up and cannot find any info on the service bulletin. Anybody here know anything about this service bulletin or how to get some answers?

I don't know anything about the Service Bulletin that you're speaking of.
If it's a front transmission leak, perhaps Tuff Torq might have some info.
The Front transmission is a KTM 10 L, you might need the serial number of your transmission when you speak to them.
Tuff Torq customer service phone number is
1-866-572-3441

They have been helpful to me in the past on general specification info.
Please keep us informed

Did you by chance check to see if the nuts on the oil lines are not loose.
The oil lines that run from the rear transmission to the front transmission.

One of my new R322T machines was leaking oil, and it was due to one of those oil lines being loose.

Ry2ns I sent you a PM

Sorry to hear you have problems with oil leaks. The Service Bulletin B1200049 deals with leaks from lines and fittings on AWD riders built in 2012 (just insufficiently torqued), but your problem seems different.

Anyway here it is : https://www.dropbox.com/s/k0xatfn266c2tdb/HUSB2012_AAen__B1200049.pdf?dl=0

EDIT:

No, you are correct, there are 2 new bulletins out dated 2015-04-27:

B1500024, Creeping AWD transmissions https://www.dropbox.com/s/smo470j7a0qc8z5/HUSB2015_AAen__B1500024.pdf?dl=0

B1500027, Leaking AWD transmissions https://www.dropbox.com/s/zngl1fjh69xn221/HUSB2015_AAen__B1500027.pdf?dl=0

Your transmission needs to be changed under warranty by the dealer. "KTM10 xx has the leaking issue. If the product has this issue the complete transmission should be changed."

Some other SBs of interest:

B1400056 Pulley brake https://www.dropbox.com/s/z5fnzze6ufowaa3/HUSB2014_AUenNAen__B1400056.pdf?dl=0

The pulley brake was upgraded to a stronger version. These brakes are only mounted on machines for North America and Australia, the rest of the world seems to survive without them...

B1300072 Adjustment of wheel speed AWD Riders, 2013-10 https://www.dropbox.com/s/2yrhpk6sfwsffpq/HUSB2013_AAen__B1300072.pdf?dl=0

This is the so called "swash" adjustment (front/back transmission speed adjustment). Some dealers and representatives seem to not be up to date or aware of the importance. "Fundamentally, the rear wheels shall ALWAYS rotate at a greater speed than the front wheels. The front wheels may under no circumstances rotate faster than the rear wheels."

Hi - I was wondering where you were able to pull up these service bulletins? I tried the links you provided in a couple of your posts, but I can't get them to work.

I have a R322T that I had to replace a transmission after just 8 hours of use. The only dealer close to me are what I like to call "intellicutally challenged" and would like to be able to find out about these types of issues myself.

You need a dealer login at Husqvarna support web to find SBs. My dealer shares them with me... I put them on dropbox to make them available, do you mean you can't download them from the dropbox links I provided? Anyone else with problems? It works fine when I try it, even from a different computer.
