Hydraulic Filter Question

I have to install a new filter housing on a log splitter. Do I use any type of sealant on the pipe threads or tape?

you can use either if you are careful, but generally tape is not preferred because if a piece lets go in the oil it can cause an issue. ISZ

We use pipe dope at work when plumbing up hydraulics.

We use Tru-Blu thread sealant for sealing all fittings that carry liquid. Even works on NH3. If anyone shows up with Teflon tape near hydraulics they are summarily shot. J\K

That's what we use too expensive for home use though
