Hydraulic Pump Noise... but not always.

Oldnslo. I thought about throwing the two pump possibility out there too. RD. Did you make any changes to the way it was plumbed? If the valves are open centered, you should be able to blow air from the pressure end to the return end. No air = closed center.

That looks like to me a priority flow valve in the top left of the last picture. Not sure what the forth line is unless it is a return to tank.

This makes sure the correct amount of flow is available for both valves so they can work at the same time. So in this case the first drawing would be correct. We have to determine if the valves are open or closed center.

I am going to recommend a test. If it is off base one of y'all let me know.

I would take the return to tank line off of one of the valves and put it in a 5 gal bucket. Then I would kick the pump on and see if fluid flows with the valves in neutral position. If it flows full then it is open center. If it does not flow or flows a little it would be closed center.

If it turns out that the valves are open center, it could be that the new pump is undersized for the system. Just a thought.

I see there have been posts I haven't seen. Someone asked I think if I had some sort of program maybe. I don't... whatever it was. I can't seem to find that post.

I'm willing to say that this was probably a triple pump setup, one for each valve bank. However, I didn't read the entire thread, so this may be just some non sense.

Wonder if carriage position motor control could be move here? Connecting the two valve stacks would be quite easy. But then I still don't understand the relief thing. If pressure builds up too much the relief allows fluid to flow though the valve stack to the tank... even as something is being activated?

Here is some diagrams borrowed from another site. First will be open center.

This is open center with flow divider.

And last closed center.

Gosh, thank you. Great examples. Unless you or someone else thinks I'm way off base I should be trying for what's in figure 2-4? Only I don't have a separate relief valve now. What's confusing me a little/lot is the separate relief valve when there is also mention of adjusting the relief valve in the control valves themselves?

Just figure out what valves you have first. Open or closed. This is where we are in the process. Without that information we can't move forward with advice. We would be guessing and that could be very expensive for you.

Really, I do appreciate all suggestions but I haven't tried many . One thing I did figure out this morning however is that the controls are indeed made by Prince. SVW1BA1 "parallel circuit construction" Hmmm.

Unless Prince has made changes to the SV valve line those valves can be converted to power Beyond. The attached document is from the Prince website and page V25 shows where the conversion plug would be installed. The pictures in post 29 do NOT have the power beyond option installed.
