Nice setup. I guess you could even wire it thru a temp sending unit.. so that it turns on when 'x' temp is reached.

I guess a toggle switch fan could be used too.. ( ho-hum.. )

no need to fuss with complicated thermocouples and a home made wireing. there are off the shelf fan controlers built to do just that. you stick a probe in the fan fins and theres a little dial on it you can set for higher/lower temp for when for it to come on/off.

this is one example from flex-a-light a well known maker of aftermarket electric fans (i have one on my toyota 4runner as the main cooling fan)

That's a right nice looking fan-thermostat kit but if SoundGuy used it he would have no further reason to visit Radio Shack, so we can't use it, sorry :D

I think my local store would close if i stopped 'building' things vs buying them.

ya well for me its like the diffrence between mining the iron ore and smelting it into steel for a project vs just buying the steel.

I still has to be cut/welded etc for my custom project. The question is how much do you want to do yourself right?!?! :D

If I can make it cheaper than buying it.. and ahve all the functionality I need..and I have the time. I usually do so.. if the 'on the shelf' product is plainly better than I can practically build and/or cheaper..or I'm in a hurry. I buy it.

The smell of rosin core solder tends to excite me just a bit too much...

One more hydro oil cooler failer TC-40D. I caught it before I lost too much fluid. Hated to do it but ended up bypassing the cooler to finish up a project, about 20 minutes worth of mowing. Same issue - left fitting at the base. I will be stopping by NH dealer Monday for a new cooler. I don't want to run the tractor for any real length of time without one.

Any chance of a picture of the failed unit. The weld on mine is very heavy, so much so that I think it's a better connection than even the washered-versions they're using on the new units, but maybe I'm mistaken and failure is imminent.

djradz, mine is the same as Pineridge's. If you go to the first page of this thread and click on I belive it is the second picture - my cooler is identical and the fatigue/cracking is on the same fitting. In speaking with the New Holland dealer, a newer version (besides the reinforced washer) has been developed as well as hose clamps to limit the vibration from the hydraulic hoses. Three days if in stock at the distributor and $202.00 later. I was four months out of warrantee.
