This might be a strange one to people who will have no clue as to what I am,but ill try and maybe someone can help, I'm south african living in california and part of a burning man camp called chico urban area co-op, we an art collective and share about 8000sqf space to create art and do our own work, I was raised in shops and have a lot of diesel and gas mechanical experience, but amd so lost with this new project. I purchased a 1981 vanpelt fire truck with cat 3208, I have removed everything down to the hydro drive splittling the drive shaft.its massive but is connected only to the drive shaft by the pto which is about ten inches wide at the drive shaft.I'm turning this vechile into a theme vehcle and want to put wings on it that will need to be sucked back up to fit in the streets of black rock city at burning man,
My question is, can I use the pto and convert it to oil so I can add the rams I need to lower the wings wich would be the extending motion of the ram and then pull them back up against the body when needed. Some suggesed I bypass the power steering and add the nessesary valved to push oil to the rams and have oil tank for return and pressure, will this work? Can I modify the hydro to oil? If not what pto will I need to make the pressure needed?
