How much oil came out when you drained it? Three quarts might not be enough to show up on the stick.

Yours is not the only model like that. I have a L4200. It has two drain plugs but only one fill. The owners manual says the crankcase with filter capacity is 6.3 quarts, but it takes a full 8 quarts to bring it to the full mark.

Actually I have two drains and TWO fills. So you can imagine my dismay when I went to check the dip stick and it was empty.

Just to bring everyone up to speed - the dealer confirmed there are two fills and it appears the sump takes more than what the manual states. Sadly I dont have a exact qty but its over 5 qts.

After I finally felt comfortable to run the motor for ~10 minutes and re-checked the dip - it was full.

Oh and one last note - when I went to changed out the HST and Transmission filter (the smaller of the filters) had very little oil lost when I went to replace it HOWEVER when I changed out the larger of the two (HST?) its wasnt pretty - it flowed like water out of a faucet and I could not get the filter to catch any threads quickly so I had to replace most of Super UDT

Next time I will use the shop vac technique :)

Happy Tractoring

As I said earlier I dont knoww since the oil catch I use is one of those larger ones with a spout. When I drained it I didnt pay enough attention to it and dumped it into a recycle barrel I have. I recall it looked like a lot - maybe 5 qts. Just not sure.

I can not beleive this......I just did my 1st oil change at 38 hrs because its been a year. So feeling pretty good about the new Kubota 10 30 in my motor while out tilling the garden. Then I find this thread:mad:

My B2920 did only take the 3.7 qts. But I never even noticed that there was TWO feaking drian plugs......:confused::confused:maybe because it wasn't mentioned in the manual..until I see the OP pictures.

So here is my question...Looks like I will be changing my oil again. Should I also buy another filter or leave the filter?:mad:

I have a New Holland and a JD but if it was me...I would go ahead and change the filter too..I mean they are not that expensive and since it has still had the old oil circulated through it ...why not just do it right even if it is overkill...Tractors are expensive...Just my opinion,, I am sure others will chime in..

My 3710 takes 2 gallons to fill the oil sump, especially if I allow a good long drain time.

The split sump does require both plugs be removed.

The 3710 also has a port to the crankcase in the block, just above the left front of the engine. In the case of the 3710, the "plug" is a rubber "press fit" item that, over time hardens up and may actually pop out of the port. I had to put electrical tape around mine, last winter to make it fit snugly.

Stupid design if you ask me. The plug, not the port.

Interesting - I have a brochure for the B2320 B2620 & B2920 - all three list the oil capacity as 3.2 quarts - hmmm... Looks like that would be a critical number to be correct as it could result in a lot of unneccessary warranty repairs - If I were Kubota, I'd want it to be right for sure - just sayin...

Did your dealer confirm the manual is incorrect? How much oil do they use when changing?
Depending on where the engines are used (tractor, generator etc) the dipsticks and oil pans could all be different. Pretty sloppy on Kubota's part
