Just like everything else in this world it takes educating yourself. Read some credible books, talk to an attorney, go to a good range take some lessons on usage and proper self defense both with and without a gun.

If the line between your actions and the situation is blurred somehow the part about waiting for your attorney becomes the most important because they know how to twist words better than the cop and district attorney who just want to make a name for themselves by getting a guilty verdict to further thier career .

I believe he works with a group called the lethal force institute. He's one guy who's advice I would trust, and one I would want on my side should I need someone in court.

NYC tells everyone that it's safer than it's ever been. Since I've never set foot there, no clue if it's true or not.

NYC has it's own set of laws allowed by NY State, THAT is what sucks, basically, anything that you can use for self defense, non lethal or lethal, is reserved for criminals, so they have the upper hand. you are at the criminals mercy there, which is extremely limited.. I'm not sure why the rights of criminals are so protected there!.. Police take way too long to respond, IF you even get a chance to call them!.. NYC is way too weird for me!..

I can see that. A good criminal lawyer that can defend a person just for a DUI starts at $5000.00 here. Hard to imagine the cost for a shooting.

And if the guy who did the shooting gets out in 10 years (if he's lucky to get out alive after some of the black boys find out what he's in for), although he may be alive, do really think he'll have much of a life to go back to? Not even addressing the civil matter and declared bankruptcy the guy will go probably go through.

What it seems you fail to realize is that there is no getting a "best" per how this confrontation played out.

The guy with the gun got into ANOTHER argument, this was his second. The first guy got away because he probably walked away. My point is the guy with the gun opened his door to his future by being a loudmouth with a gun.

Carry a gun, keep your mouth shut, period. No talking, no looking funny or hand gestures at the other person, just walk away to ensure you don't have to use your gun. YOU have to show that in no way shape or form, you didn't start any ***** to begin with that made you use your gun in defense of your own life in your opinion.

We'll to agree to disagree. If someone says something to me. I will walk off and I carry every day.
If someone chooses to say something to me, and I chose to physically attack them. They have the right to do what ever is necessary to get me off of them.

When you go as far as putting your hands on people just because you don't like what someone says, You take your life into your own hands.
A verbal altercation, is much different than a physical altercation.
A physical altercation will get you killed.

Educating yourself and following commonly known practices will make that cost much more bearable.
It is usually he who assumes they know all the legal definitions and cross points that ends up with a huge legal bill. Those of us who have done our due diligence seem to have little issue and cost. If your place of work offers legal insurance there might be coverage if your state has a castle doctrine in effect. Many clubs will offer legal help threw a known well regarded self defense attorney. This is usually the best thing as you will have much more support and in most cases the cost of membership is minimal compared to the many benefits that come with it.
