RaT,

It's all relative to where you live. We handle the humidity like we handle -20 below in the winter.

For us the hot weather only lasts at most about 2 maybe 3 months here in WNY then it's seasonable at best. I've seen it snow as early as September and as late as May here.

So compared to things like Earthquakes, Hurricanes, rattlesnakes, drought, ozone alerts from smog or any of lifes other issues I'll take a little humidity.

So on hot days I just look at something cooler to take my mind off the heat.

We've been having the same 90ish temps and high humidity here in PA also.

The part that's making it miserable is that we've been baling hay every day. Get's plenty warm in the fields as well as the loft.

It's not that hard really. When your 8 month pregnant wife wakes you up in the middle of the night (3am) because the dog is hot and so is she /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif then declares that the air conditioner shall be installed, you negotiate (beg) /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif - do I have to do it now or can it wait until tomorrow. If she is a a kind and benevolent leader, she will give you 12 hours to comply with her order. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

When she arrives home to the newly installed air conditioner, she smiles and kisses you and says thank you. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Then she asks if we should leave it on during the day for the dog /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Don't feel bad, my wifes does the samething with our dogs. She had be lower the temp to 71 (from 73) when we are not home to keep dogs cool. Nothing like cool 1800 sq feet for 3 dogs........whatever, it is only money.......

We've been in the 90's this week w/ high humidity. I don't mind working in it outside.. but when I come inside to rest.. I want the AC blasting.

Yesterday evening we got pounded by lighting & a good rain.. I got stuck in the barn during the storm.. so I ended up folding all my empty feed sacks.

I've had the central air running in my kennel for the past four days for the dogs AND me. I figure I have to be comfortable when I'm working, too and there's nothing like 20+ panting dogs to add to the humidity...
I'm just glad I live in the country and not the city when the weather's like this. All show and no go last night. We barely got a sprinkle.

70 degrees and 70% humidity doesn't sound so bad. Typical summer weather here in Iowa is 90's with 90%+ humidity. I guess its all relevant to where you live. The first year I was married, we vacationed in Northern Minnesota (Lutson/ Grand Marais area) and it reached 80 degrees. We rented canoes for a day and the girl working at the counter couldn't believe her boss was forcing her to work in that kind of heat, she stated repeatedly that she was going to die from heat exhaustion.

North Texas is pretty bad, but Houston is much worse. I go to Moab Utah and my fingers crack from the lack of humidity. I have to keep neosporin close by at all times. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

( I spent 10 weeks at the FBI academy at Quantico in '86 (late March to early June) and one weekend afternoon decided to visit Mount Vernon. My transportation at the time was my Honda Aspencade, and it didn't take long on the hot pavement on that motorcycle for me to decide to get back where there was air-conditioning. The weather report said it was 94 degrees and 94% humidity.

However, at 4 a.m. here this morning, it's 77 degrees and 77% humidity. )

Hey Bird,

I was there the summer before you training for Embassy Duty.

We had these "black flag" days when the Marine Corps would not allow us to PT due to the physical risk caused by the extreme heat and humidity. The only good thing about that weather other than getting a day off of PT was it prepaird me for living in Cameroon.

Here in East Texas, the humidity levels are usually in the 70 to 90 percent range with temps around 90 degrees. I don't think we broke 100 degrees once last year.

When it gets real bad and I start to feel it, I take a siesta for an hour or two. It's also a good time to get on a tractor and do some less physical work.
