Re: I don\'t know how you guys handle the humidity!

Summer is here!!!! Supposed to be in low to mid 90's with 75-80% humidity. Just another day in paradise.

This is the type of day that I usually find that I've promised to go mow at the farm. Nobody believes me that it gets over 120 in that unair conditioned cab (the mobile greenhouse). They also don't want to sit in it for hours to find out. I finally announced that this year I wasn't going to mow during the summer but you know how that goes. One look at those pastures when they haven't been mowed for 3 months or so and I'll be out there with my cooler of Gatorade. Let's see now, that should put it in August sometime. That's about right. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Come on down to Florida in August. If you don't sweat to death a hurricane will blow you away...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

FL_Cracker,

I spent 20+ years exiled in South Florida... Spent the last few weeks in Ft. Lauderdale working the OAS meeting......

For the life of me I can not understand why anyone would want to live down there? But then again many think I am crazy to want to live in Maine during the winter. Then again many think I am just crazy!!!!!

Today I think we hit a high of 58. So glad I am home.

Enjoy the heat!

Oh, yes, some of us believe it. In fact, we know for sure that it does. One of my friends and farmer neighbors in the hay business worked a great deal by himself, cutting, raking, and baling hay. When it came time to bale hay, he used two air-conditioned John Deere tractors; one to rake and one to bale. He'd rake awhile with the one, get out, leaving it running, and bale awhile with the other, get out, leaving it running, and rake again. Neither tractor was shut off all day. And he said if the air-conditioner went out on a tractor, you simply shut down and quit working until it's fixed.

Our temperature got to 97 today, and I'll bet any car parked in the sun with the windows up would have had an inside temperature of 120 or better.

I certainly enjoyed the five months I spent building homes in Maine near Camden/Lincoln. It was wonderful. While definetely more humid then here, it was a delight. I really liked Maine and would like to get back. Rockport was truly wonderful.

Except for Mud season and Bug season, you can't beat it. Look me up if you make it back this way.

I'll second or third that for Maine!!!!Great climate for 3 seasons, a little pain in the winter, though not too bad along the coast /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well I've lived here all my life and don't know any better. Father, Mother, Grandparents, and Great Grandparents all lived here in West Palm Beach to Jensen Beach. They never told me it was hot and humid so I just assumed that was normal until I had lived here to long to move. I'm getting smarter in my old age, I now have a place in Blue Ridge Mountains of GA and try to get there as often as I can.... Just hang around Florida for the business...

I guess that makes me crazy too......

Enjoy the cold this winter, I'm be on my boat barefoot, teeshirt, fishing rod in one hand and cold brew in the other..... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
