Really? It takes diesel? Who'd a thunk! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
And yes, last time I looked in the mirror I was pretty sure I looked like a Jennifer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm not getting a finishing mower either. Got talked out of that awhile ago by all you tractor boys. I have horses so I'm getting a bush hog brand rotary cutter. I do have a question though, Kubota is recommending a 4' as you can mow quicker. I see most folks buy bigger cutters. What's the scoop here?

Hi...I see 5030 turned out to be right this time...hee, hee, hee...

Jennifer, I ordered a 5 foot Woods BB60CW rotary cutter for my B2910. Seems the opinion here is mostly that except in very heavy grass it will work fine. YMMV, but a 5' will be wider than the rear tires, a 4' won't be.

The price is almost the same...

I could get by with a 4' as I only have to deal with a couple acres...but in the end, went with the 5'.

Either will work, as long as you are not dealing with heavy, thick grass all the time. That is what I came to believe after consulting with the guys here...

Ponygirl, in my opinion Kubota is very conservative in their implement recommendations. I had a 4' Bush Hog brand rotary cutter with my B7100, but when I got the B2710, it wasn't but a few days before I traded up to a 5" rotary cutter. If you were cutting really heavy, thick brush, the 4' one is probably the way to go, but I liked the 5' one that was just a little wider than the tractor so I could get close to fences, buildings, etc. and if the going is in stuff that's tough to cut, you can always take less than a full width of cut at at time (which I never had to do) or slow down a bit.

I have no "brush" so to speak, just very thick bahia grass.

If it's Bahia you'll want to keep it kinda sharp. That Bahia is tough but you should have no problem cutting it.

Jennifer:

I also live in Florida and my pastures are thick bahia grass, I never let my pastures get over around knee deep in hight and I have no problem. I don't own the same tractor you do but I think a 5' cutter is the way you want to go, like bird said you can't get up close to the fence row if your tractor is wider than your mower.

Take a look at the pic attached and this was mowed with 5' cutter and 25 PTO horse power and this is longer than I usely let it get.

Congratulations on the B2910, ponygirl. You will be very satisfied with the tractor. I love mine. As for the rotary cutter, my dealer told me that if you were going to be cutting through brush that you would need a 4' rotary cutter. If you are cutting through grass you would be fine with a 5'. If you are cutting through grass I would get the 5'.

Bird:

"slow down a bit."

Kinda think you've never had that problem.

Bill:

When we come by in August, I can pull the horse trailer and bring you one. You will have to build a BIGGER shed, however. Our mares average about 2100 pounds each and stand about 15 hands high, or would you like a yearling so you could raise it.
