There have been two competing thoughts here on this thread that need to be kept separate. These get embroiled here and I'd like to believe there is much common ground to agree upon.

1. Kubota's intellectual property is theirs. Absolutely fair. True. It's the law of copyright in this country.

2. That said, doing customer assistance in a progressive, modern and helpful way is the sign of a good company. Period. Assisting the customer to purchase the parts they need is vital to the health of any machinery company.

No one is being shut down, infact very little will really change. All thats happening is that the parts catalogs are comming off the website. That is all. We're still here, you just have to ask for the diagrams rather than us posting them publicly. This impacts us more than anyone, and even I am looking at some of these posts and thinking they are a bit over the top.

If I recall correctly, to get a parts listing from tractorsmart, you have to provide your model number and e-mail addy and they will send it to you a day or so later, so I suppose Messick's will have to adopt something similar.

I do recall that with a part number, you could get a price quote and order on-line from either source. I'm not clear if that will be NLA, however - hope not.

As far as I'm concerned the action Kubota took is a big red flag for me. It was a big convenience to me to be able to see,zoom in on the schematics,view the parts prices,place the order online and have my parts shipped to my door. When I found about this I went to Kubotas web site and wrote them a letter. So far I have not received a response. I hope Kubota takes a good long hard look at this decision and sees that it is in theirs as well as their customers best interest to reverse this decision. My good old l2350 has served me well through the years. When the time comes to replace it I will look at all options and buy a machine that's durable and convenient for me to service and buy parts for.

Price will be a definite factor but I will do my best to look at the whole picture. Durability, functionality, ease of service and parts availability. I will give Kubota credit for having every single part right down to nuts,bolts emblems and trim stickers still available.

I agree 100% since I starte this tread. It WAS a nice service and I would love to know why Kubota stopped this. To me, they just got moved DOWN on my scale. I think some others dealers whined.

Well Kubota you are not living up to your customer committments. Yes, I love my L3400. Yes, you do make a fine product. Yes, you do have a right to sell intellectual property. Yes, I did purchase both manuals with my tractor. Yes, I have migrated to a company like Messicks because of their superb sales and service eventhough I live 1000 mile away. If I had to deal with my local dealer my tractor would be green! I will definately think twice and do my homework when it comes down to another major machine purchase. From my point of view you (Kubota) need to take a long hard look at your marketing strategy and ask your decision makers some serious questions. Industry standards will drive you that way anyway! By the way, thanks for a great product, I love my L3400.

Can we get a current complete catalog shipped out to us for reference? This was a stupid move by Kubota. Bad PR and I am sure as the word gets out people will be reluctant to by a Kubota due to the rip off prices for parts from some local dealers. Not to mention the wait time. I could understand if it were counterfit parts ... but these are KUBOTA parts being shipped from the KUBOTA warehouse to Messicks and then out to the consumers. I don't understand. :confused: Kubota blew it. :(:mad:
