Do you have any data to substantiate your position on E-Bay? That's a pretty bold statement you're making. I'd guess that pawn shops and scrap dealers have a higher percentage of misappropriated goods than poor old e-bay. Most crank heads couldn't hang on to a computer long enough to do much damage on e-bay. Anyone dealing in stolen property on e-bay is taking a big chance for a federal beef, (wire fraud, state lines, etc.) but who knows? After seeing your data I may change my mind.

John

E-bay admits to over 3,000 auctions per day for stolen merchandise. This is simply what they know to be stolen. How much do you think they don't know about is stolen? Like I said, E-bay is the largest single seller of stolen merchandise in the world.

Do you really think that a thief is worried about getting caught for selling across state lines? Everyone knows the feds have nicer big houses anyway. Most crank heads steal for a fix. Most thieves are not crank heads but look like everyone else in America.

I don't know what to do about thieves and I don't think any one else does either. Maybe a little time in the stocks with a $5 charge and any passerby could get a bamboo stick and have 5 whacks at the thieves butt.

Druggies is another type of problem. There I think that having some place they would be sent to, something like a prison where they could get all of the drug of their choice they wanted. The only way they could get back on the street is by getting them selves clean.
Now some one will say that that costs money. Yes it does cost money but you already are paying the money in form of higher insurance cost, more cops and public defenders for the druggies and the list goes on.

If you should be a first time offender your sentence would be going into the institution and cleaning up after these people and hauling out the bodies of the ODs.

Sometime society has got to get off their ***** and start electing people that will enforce the laws that we have now or change them to protect the law-a -bidding citizen.

I agree with the person that said that posting what you would do to a thief if you caught him is setting yourself up for a rough time in a court of law if you ever find your self in this situation.

I have had my attached garage invaded while I was home, I chased him out with a 357 in my hand. Another time I caught a guy going through my car one night( man that guy could run, left me in his dust). At that time I lived in Bakersfield Ca.

Now I live out in the boon docks and I meant a couple of guys out in the yard one night that had run out of gas. I knew one of the guys by reputation only, a reputation for thievery by the way, I had my 9mm in my hand but I never threatened them in any way other than they could see that I was armed.

When you live in a small community like I do, you pretty much know who the trouble makers are.

This country already imprisons a higher percentage of it's population than any other nation on earth. I think the average cost is 60K, each, per year. Having the state kill people for property crimes isn't gonna happen. Nor should it. I live in Michigan, and as of a couple years ago, we were spending more money on the prison system than on the university system. 85% were in for drug crimes. We have mandatory sentencing, some of the toughest laws in the country. It hasn't worked. If we sent fewer non violent drug offender's to jail, maybe we could hang onto the thieves, rapists, and murderers longer?

With over four million transactions a day three thousand sounds very insignificant. They make every effort to curtail illegal activities on their site. On a percentage basis their stolen merch listings are closer to zero percent than anything. I'd be willing to wager that any pawn shop or scrap dealer has a higher percentage of stolen goods at any one time than e-bay does. The vast majority of e-bay users are honest people looking for something legitimate and or unusual. I bought a gold bar that came from the Atocha that sank in 1622. Where else are you going to find something like that? Most thieves are not crank heads, but all crank heads are thieves. I have made alot of money on e-bay stock as well as being a vendor. (99.8% approval rating) Sounds like you have some sour grapes for them that nothing is going to change. Don't be mad because they are successful.

I don't think someone looking to nail a tractor is going to pay too much attention to the name plate. It is actually an LG tractor, the finest Korea has to offer, that is marketed under several different names. It has served me well and I'm delighted that you have also gleaned some enjoyment from their unfortunate circumstances.

If you have electricity, video surveillance is the way to go. That way if/when they get caught, there shouldn't be any reason for them not to convicted.

I have a pretty hard core attitude about drug dealers and users.
Any dealer caught a proven guilty would die. There is no age limit on this stipulation. Ya ya the bleeding hearts would have a cow. But I'm pretty sure that after a year or two of putting a 1000 or so of these people in the ground things would start to change.

Move to the middle east I know that saudi arabia has that particular punishment for drug dealers. You could live with the kind of laws you like right now and not have to wait
