Some points to ponder:

While, there are liberal judges out there, it's a jury however, that convicts and also many times meets out the penalty. I often wonder where some of these juries come from......whose "piers" are they.
While us good hard working folk are "having" to work, bearing the burden (taxes) of those who abuse the system. Many of us just can't afford to take off and serve on a jury. (I've heard so many people claim to have thrown their jury summons away, when it came in the mail)
So, if we're too busy bustin' our butts to make ends meet. Who's serving on the juries? Could it be those same freeloading bums sponging off our tax dollars?

I certainly hope most of ya'll serve when called upon. And, when some Judge and/or prosecutor calls you to follow the letter of the law against some other hard working citizen for shooting some low life wouldbe thief, then you will have already read this: Jury nullification - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On another note. There's a man in Pasadena, Tx. who recently shot two thieves (in this county illegally) breaking into his neighbors house. He claims they crossed the line of his property and he had to shoot (caught on 911 audio.) I know there is quite a bit of skepticism due to fact he shot them both in the back, but the point remains; he is not able to live in his own house at this time for fear of his & his families lives.

Actually...many people who should serve on juries go to the judge and cry hardship to get out of jury duty...so in a sense they are abrogating their civic responsibility...and some of these people are the same ones who complain about jury outcomes...

For instance, care to guess how many people got excused from the O.J. Simpson trial...;)

Last week, a local radio station (near Kansas City) had the copper stolen from their transmitting tower, while the were on the air. It only outpit 500 watts when it happened and they are planning to go to 5000 watts which would have electocuted the thieves. The builders in the area are losing copper pipe and wiring at record rates as well.

If you have electricity, video surveillance is the way to go. That way if/when they get caught, there shouldn't be any reason for them not to convicted.

I have a pretty hard core attitude about drug dealers and users.
Any dealer caught a proven guilty would die. There is no age limit on this stipulation. Ya ya the bleeding hearts would have a cow. But I'm pretty sure that after a year or two of putting a 1000 or so of these people in the ground things would start to change.

Hard core attitude? More insane than hardcore. Maybe you'd like it in Singapore. The Green River killer gets a life sentence, Sammy the Bull gets a walk from the feds and you want to kill a thousand or so people for drugs? I have a nice place and my share of big boy toys but I'm not going to murder someone for stealing any of it. That's why I have insurance, I let State Farm do most of my worrying for me.

Yep, and as long as people keep buying on Evil-bay, there will always be a market for stolen goods. E-bay is the largest market of stolen goods on the planet.
Do you have any data to substantiate your position on E-Bay? That's a pretty bold statement you're making. I'd guess that pawn shops and scrap dealers have a higher percentage of misappropriated goods than poor old e-bay. Most crank heads couldn't hang on to a computer long enough to do much damage on e-bay. Anyone dealing in stolen property on e-bay is taking a big chance for a federal beef, (wire fraud, state lines, etc.) but who knows? After seeing your data I may change my mind.

I live in a rural area and take the usual precautions (locks, lights, dog, guns) and if I catch a thief in my yard, they will be staring down the barrel of my gun, but if I catch them in my house they are very likely to be shot on sight.

The only good thief is a dead thief in my book.

Just talked to a guy that had his house broken into and he had a good idea who it was and he put up a sign that reads "I know you did it and if you come back you will be shot" which kinda goes without saying. The cool thing is that he also included the initials of the scumbag that did it....allegedly...

Let me tell you that this is possibly the stupidest thing I have heard of in a long time.

First of all, low-lifes have a shorter life expectancy than the rest of us. And, sometimes they die of bullets.

Now if that should happen to the guy whose initials are on the sign, who do you think the cops are going to go looking for? Possibly the guy who has already made a written threat to shoot him?

Now, even if you are totally innocent, once you have been picked up for questioning, you life becomes he11. First thing is that the sign writer is going to need a lawyer, and no he does not qualify for a public defender, he owns enough property to get it stolen.

At this point, he would have been financially better off the just give the thief a shopping cart and a 20 minute "shopping spree" inside his house. Lawyers are expensive.

And, to top it off, innocent men have been convicted of crimes. How would you like to do 20 years based on a frame-up, all because you wrote a threatening sign out of frustration?

You know for sure, the real shooter is going to view this as an opportunity to incriminate someone else, and he will be feeding info to the police.

Some of the folks that tick me off are the guys that play a few holes on the local golf course just before dark and after the club house has closed. As a major stock holder, I KNOW what it cost to operate a 36 hole course. These guys are stealing from me and don't think they are doing anything wrong. I guess this would be considered white collar crime?

Heres an interesting one .. I hope the link works..

Stolen Construction Equipment Found - New Hampshire News Story - WMUR Manchester

I sure hate to admit, but maybe some sort of title system would help.If I were Governor Id have it almost no charge. Of course with time the politicians would loose touch with the reason for a title and increase it for revenues.
I imagine there are many machines big and small that are bought by inspecting people.
My question is if Joe Smoke wants to buy a machine, and can get the numbers off it, is there a system in place to cover the entire country for theft. Is the number at my local PD able to tell me its not stolen?
I know they have been skipping these things overseas like the ones stolen in England recently.
I just wonder if there is a data bank of the reported stolen machines.?

Also didn't think of parting them out, like a car they might be worth more for parts.
