This thread has really taken a turn...

I think the op came here with a reasonable gripe about posts that are hard to understand because of no paragraph breaks, no punctuation, and just generally unclear thoughts. Some here have taken that as asking for perfect grammar and spelling. I don't think that was his intent. I agree, with a lot of the comments on here, no need to be perfect but at least be clear and understandable.

Thank you.

Oh heck we always wander off point and I sure admit we are far from the original intent of the OP, but just about the time for it to die, quite some time ago, someone comes along and stirs it up. I "think" I'm done now.:)

I understand your point but isn't it more of being able to post things one would not ever say to another persons face ? An example , in polite society if you were in a conversation with someone who was using ....dis, dem and dougs instead of This, Them and Those, would you stop them and correct them ? and if it was in a group setting would stop the person talking and correct them, ask them to speak properly...? I don't think so...See what anonymity on the internet does ? How it emboldens folks and dispenses with common courtesy...:2cents:

Yeah, Bob, I've already deleted that post and the one before it.

That's how I saw it too.

This thread is more than spelling, grammar and punctuation, it is the ability to make written word easy to read and understand.

JJ I like your contribution of adding a line in-between each line. It is easier to read.

Gee...seems like I struck a nerve or too...er I mean two...:ashamed:

perhaps I should put links to the definitions of "blunt" and "succinct" in my sig...

illiteracy can be overcome...

/pine, now you are just being insulting.
Earlier you said that you can't take people seriously who can't tell the difference between your, you're, there, their, they're etc etc. then you say poor word forms set off "bells and whistles".

Face it, you're a stiff.

If you have a hard time reading someone's comment because of there grammar maybe it's all because of your inability to decipher!!!! People write like they do because of there upbringing and environment! It really is no different then if you learned Japanese because you lived in Japan! French because you lived in France ! Ghetto because you live in the ghetto. Hillbilly because you were raised in the hills! Get my point!! If you don't understand Japanese maybe it's because you never lived in Japan. If you don't understand someone's writing maybe you weren't in there house when they had to quit school, go to work to support there mom bothers and sisters, maybe you weren't there when they got the news that there father was killed in war! Or wreck, or heart attack, or cancer! You weren't there so think before you talk and accuse, you don't know someone's life or how they got were they are!!!!!

First off your reply makes no sense...just using a goof post to reply et al...

FWIW...It was never my intention to insult, strike a nerve with or disrespect anyone...

I have praised J_J's contributions here numerous times and never intended my replies to make him think I was referring in any way to his posts...

IMO... Those that have replied with knee jerk reactionary responses need to take a step back and take a deep breath...

A web based message board is exponentially different than having a live conversation (@ brin...)...

As I have said...spelling (not to be confused with word form) is not nearly as important as knowing the the actual meaning of words used...

Recently there was a thread about "first impressions" and a LARGE MAJORITY of members that responded said they thought they were VERY GOOD at determining a person's character after a "first impression" based on various characteristics etc...etc...

...With a mostly text (and emotion icon) based message board it is impossible to see how a person dresses, what (exposed) tattoos/piercings etc. they may have, how they are groomed etc...etc...The things that the folks mentioned above stated that they (partially) used in judging a persons character...

My point is/was...with ONLY the printed word (minus emoticon) exposed to anyone reading a post that is all a contributor has is the words they use to convey their thoughts...just saying...

Again it was not ever my intention to point out, throw darts, condemn anyone....
I'm a realist I do not apologize for my comments as they were never meant to point out or meant to insult anyone...it was just my opinion about message boards...
...I try to make it clear in my signature that I am blunt and short on words and don't sugar coat anything for the sake of thin skinned readers...sorry...cheers!

Creo que ustedes tienen mucho tiempo en sus manos y sólo deben aceptar a la gente por lo que son. Si no te gusta lo que alguien escribe... no leo it...simple como eso. ¿Quién murió y te hizo el Dios grammer? Sal de tu caballo.:2cents:

Most people I've met that are blunt on words and never as you say sugar coat anything are by nature also condensending and self righteous and arrogant! Never considering someone's feeling or how they may feel! never considering what someone has lived through because your to busy correcting everyone because they don't fit in you perfect mold, and also most of the times thoses people are single and wonder why they can't keep someone close !!! Just sayin!!

Bing translation,

I think that you have much time on their hands and must only accept people for what they are. If you don't like what someone writes... I do not read it... simple as that. Who died and made you God grammer? Salt your horse
