No, definitely not. It's about 1.5 inches inside my property line.

My surveyor located the two corner pins, & we used a surveyor's transit between them, then built the fence inside that line "about" 1.5 inches (but who's counting?!) just to be sure/ safe.

In Wisconsin surveys can certainly be off that far. Mostly because old legal descriptions don't always match reality. Go henceforth a couple times from a couple different starting points and don't be surprised to find some overlap or extra room where you meet up using today's equipment.

I'm not saying that posting a sign is even close to being alright, I just wouldn't want to hang my hat on 1.5 inches in court.

How annoying! Just take the sign down and throw it out. Call the company and tell them you were annoyed with their lack of respect for private property and that they better not let it happen again. It's not worth more than that.

But, I do LOVE Dave's idea to nail it to their front door!! :laughing:

You know, at this point, we don't even know whether that company put their sign there. Too many possibilities. Maybe they hired some advertising company to post signs and didn't know one of their signs was posted on someone's fence. Or maybe kids stole the sign from somewhere else and put it on your fence as a joke. I'd have removed the sign if it were on my fence, but before I did anything else, I'd have called the company in question. They just might not be aware of where the sign was and they may apologize, or of course they might not.

It would annoy me to have that happen to me but it is a small thing in life. I would contact the company in question; find out their story before getting all steamed up. I pretty much agree with Bird comments.

I'd say that takes the cake.

I would track down the gutter company and tell them in no uncertain terms how wrong they are to be nailing signs to a private fence. The best way to do that is to nail the sign to their front door as you go in.

I would track down the gutter company and cram the sign up the tailpipe of their truck with a broom handle. But then, I have a temper. People are always cautioning me about that.

I have a customer that had a brand new vinyl fence. He was appalled on election year a candidate put up about 20 signs on his new fence with a screw gun. He neighbor got the mans name and his tag number with a camera. When my customer got hold of him he was beligerent about it. The same old do you know who I am routine. My customer told him he was the who taht was about to tote one or pay for the fence.

About 500 lenear feet of replacement tubes later plus labor it was real well known about putting signs on fences.

You have every right to be upset.

I agree with others that it may have been hired help who posted the sign on your fence. If it was the business owner who put the sign up, I wouldn't want him doing any work on my property.
