My back is doing good. I can't wait to take this annoying vest off (should be a couple more weeks, I have to see the doc tomorrow).

I plan on talking to a lawyer soon and then going back to talk to the dealer. Once I know my legal rights I will talk to the dealer in hopes of a settlement before going the legal route (or illegal route).

As for negotiating a price, he was not talking about dropping much:rolleyes:

I have been reading about this from the start and I can see where you are coming from and also part of where the dealer is coming from. Hope you can get it worked out. Sounds like the dealer has put his foot down. I just want to say one thing that no one else as said. If you did not sign a dated work ticket, then they have no right to do any work at all on your tractor. Also all phone calls to you, should have a date and time of the call. If you signed a work ticket that they put a X on and told you to sign here, then they just signed that work ticket themself. And all work is on them. Just saying this, it could be a way out of it all. The dealing is going to get you anyway from now on, so you might as well forget being a nice guy.

You can bet you butt that all work tickets well have to be signed and dated from then on.

That has been brought up somewhere along the way as nothing was put on paper. I do hope to get something worked out though and avoid any more hassels.

I know I could do this repair for half the cost they charged by using other sources for parts.

I know what you mean: I am rebuilding a transmission of my recently purchased Zetor 3011: I thought that only our dealer could supply the broken gearwheel, as this tractor is from 1967: I payd 170 Euro (even though they already gave me a discount: list price is 200 euro)
When started re assembling i found a suspicious bearing, and decided order ALL transmission bearings from my trade contact in Slovakia, who buys directly from the factory: It cost me 200 euro for bearings, and 40 euro mail costs. I just had to wait 10 days to get them by mail.
For these prices i decided to also replace another sliding gear wheel, which still had all its teeth but the tooth edges were a bit worn due to 40 years and 11.000 hrs of shifting: That one was only 49 Euro, about 25% of the price i payd at the dealer ;)

I understand exactly the thought: If they can fix it for $900, you dont want the hassle and get your tractor back to work quickly... But when it gets $9000, you can use your other tractors meanwhile, and get some good times with your family in the workshop... ;)

So, you're saying that Robert can allways use that as a wildcard to force them to the negotiating table ??

Normally i wouldnt be proud of using that method, but since the dealer is charging large amounts of interest, you could treat them with the same injustice to get them to the negotiating table, and then meet in the middle (a justful middle)

By the way, what law gives them a right to charge that much interest ?? I assume there is a law that protects you from this kind of abuse ?)

It is a 18% interest rate. I don't remember the max the law allows here but 18% is under that.

yes Renze that is what I mean. If his lawyer just drop them aline and bring that up I bet they well start talking. The dealer knows that he must have all work tickets signed and dated. I also would not like to do that eather, but just maybe it well open the door for some no BS talking. It well sure put the service mang. on the spot.
I think the interest rate at most places is 1 1/2% pr. mo. on the unpaid bal. and that = 18%APR. And you are right it is high.
I guess we well just have to wait and see what Robert does and how things work out.
