Re: I need a bigger \'you know what\'

Why not use your loader to roll the larger rocks into place. That is how I put some large rocks in place with my B2910.
No guarantee on the condition of the lawn after your done. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Jerry,
That bottom piece of angle looks like it has a pretty good tweaking bend in it too.

I'm no geologist, but I'm pretty sure that qualifies as a "Boulder".

Is that thing within the specs for the 3PH?

Re: I need a bigger \'you know what\'

If you're going to be bending and welding this thing back into shape anyhow, why don't you buy yourself some scrap square tube stock and reinforce all of your angle iron with that? You'll more than double the strength of your carry all that way. You still won't be able to move the latest boulder the wife requested, but it'll probably carry anything your tractor will lift back there. Just a thought... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I need a bigger \'you know what\'

Have you considered making smaller rocks out of them big ones? Might be cheaper. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: I need a bigger \'you know what\'

Jerry, I've seen several posts in the past about folks using skids to move big rocks. One of them uses a hood off an old car for a skid. Now I'm not suggesting you make a trip to the local junkyard, but you might look around for something flat you could use as a skid and pull the rock into place with your tractor. You'll have to use the FEL to roll the rock onto the skid and then attach a chain and go. The skid will reduce the chance of your making a big mess rolling or draging a rock into place on your lawn. ...just a thought.

Re: I need a bigger \'you know what\'

When they cleared the lot for our house they came across a lot of rocks big as cars. Some were movable.. others they worked around (bus sized and larger). The car sized that were moved took a large bulldozer to get them moving. Good luck with that one your wife wants.. Make sure they put it right where you want it the first time!

Re: I need a bigger \'you know what\'

Jim, I have a sled that is used for hauling deere out of the woods. It's pretty tough and I've used it to move a few rocks. The one in the pictue is just too large to fit on it. A hood from a car would have worked nicely. Dragging it with a chain worked out pretty well.

As for the other rock that was dropped off. (see attachment) I have tried pulling with a chain and pushing with the FEL. I cannot move this rock more than an inch in any direction. I also cannot flip it or roll it.

Re: I need a bigger \'you know what\'

Wifo makes one that might work for you. It might be a little big but they have lighter duty models that will suit you fine. This is the Wifo model PCF. It can be adjusted to work on the loader which was the reason we bought it or it can work on the 3pt which is a added bonus. The forks can be moved in or out to suit the pallets or "rocks" that you will haul. This one has a 3 ton rating and is quite heavy but still manageable. I paid $500 for this one used thru my dealer. Don't know what a new one will cost but you might be able to find out thru your local dealer.
