I had my Kubota dealer install the 3rd function system. They used a WR Long valve - the entire setup - valve, hoses, new joy stick and installation time cost $1195. I use the third function with the grapple I just bought. Looking at the finished setup - I'm glad I had it done by experienced maintenance folks. I understand the basic idea behind the 3rd function but the plumbing, routing, electrical requirements would have been well beyond my skills.
Yes, that's what I did also. I had the 3rd function kit and the installation labor quoted in the tractor price when I recently purchased my L5460HSTC. My dealer installed the Kubota kit at the time they were installing the loader. I purchased my Land Pride grapple separately. The electro-hydraulic valve is operated by a toggle switch in the loader control knob. The hydraulic lines and hoses are inside the loader boom just like the other lines and hoses and looks like a factory installation. Nothing looks add-on or like a "plumber's nightmare". It works as designed.
