I never wore mine much, because I worked around machinery a lot, and for safety reasons, my employers discouraged it. If I lost mine, I'd be in trouble. :)

I made it clear to my wife before we got married that I would not wear a ring, gave her the reasons. Took some arguing but she finally accepted the fact.

Same here. Wife didn't have a problem with it, however. I found out later that she had an uncle who was "degloved" when jumping off a tractor so she understood.

Also, I am not allowed to wear one in the shop at work for safety reasons. It is one rule that I agree 100% with.

Look up "ring avulsion injuries" and you can see some pretty gruesome reasons to not wear a ring working around machinery, or playing basket ball for that matter. Personally, I find it worth the risk, but can definitely see why some would not. Looks like horrible injuries.
:duh:

Tattoo wedding rings are the answer. :) I made a deal with my hubby when we got married, I didn't change my name (married older, no kids) and he didn't have to wear a ring. :)

Jim, we have both been given a warning I fear....we need to get our rings re-sized or buy some gizmo...but tape is not gonna get it...I tried it and it does not stand up to what we do...Thoughts ?

Maybe you would both look better with a piercing?

Am I the only one that thought he was going to say there was a finger or part of a finger on the dirt pile?

Keith

I thought he was going to find a snake! Good luck for you Jim. Really lucky. I've never worn a ring in my life. I wear watches sometimes but always break them after a short while so I've given up on them too.

I forgot to answer about the "Dropping ring in trash" issue. My GF of 18 years LOST her CLASS ring her dad bought for her circa 1982 when her girls were maybe 14 it disappeared. (One of her girls ran off to live with her dad & she assumed the girl took it.) fast forward about 2 years the cops knocked on the door asking for her. Seems her dad had it engraved with her initials and class year they looked up and found her info. Asked if she was missing a ring which she IDed it was missing. Turns out it fell into trash at some point and the local trash service has it all sorted & they found it. One of the workers was stealing all the FOUND jewelery & he was nabbed in theft ring with her's in a bag marked melt down...

OMG!!! It happened again to me yesterday. I was operating my backhoe and thought something felt strange as I reached for the outrigger levers with my left hand. I looked down to see my wedding ring was missing. My heart skipped a beat and then I looked at the platform right under the levers. There is was.:cool2: I thought about putting it into my pocket, but I was almost done, so I put it back onto my finger and finished up. After I parked the tractor, I noticed some dirt clods on the steps. My wheels shed clods and the steps seem to catch everyone of them. I cleared off the clods and came into the house.

About 2:30 this morning, nature called and I had to go to the bathroom. As I looked down, I suddenly realized my ring was missing. Holy cow! :bawling: How did I lose my ring without knowing it? So, this morning, I got up, had my coffee, and screwed up my nerve to tell my wife what a bonehead thing I'd done. Then, I remembered clearing the clods off the steps. I wasn't sure at all, but just to check, I walked out to the tractor. There on the ground about 2' from the steps was my shiny ring.:applause::dance1::cool2:

Note to self: You've been more than lucky. Take off ring and leave in the house when you go out tractoring. Stop by to pick up lottery ticket today.

Jim, you loose your ring more than anyone I know. Fortunately (so far) you've been lucky
I think it's time for you to get it re-sized or get a hose clamp!:D
