I own 11 acres with my house on it and have a
BX2360 so 23hp Kabota and I wouldn’t want anything bigger for what I use it for. I cut the grass, clear a 300 foot driveway, move firewood for the boiler, keep trails clean, mow ditches, and landscape with it.
This summer I moved over 60,000 lbs of rock with it, and about 5 cord of wood. Anything larger wouldn’t fit in my woods and would destroy my yard mowing. I can keep it in the shed or 3rd garage stall in winter for quick access.
I guess it’s totally situational dependent on what you plain on doing. I also made jumps for my kids dirt bikes and smoothed the grade to the river making access easier for the kids. Are there times I could use a larger loader yes, but only to speed things up if I can get to the location needed. I looked at Kubota B which is larger then the BX but I wouldn’t trust my sons or wife finishing mowing the yard with it
.
So I could have bought a larger tractor for less and a mower and maintain two pieces of equipment that in the end would cost the same or more. As a nice mower and less expensive tractor would cost more then one machine. So to each there own, I’m not a farmer either, and don’t plan to ever do row crops on such a small acreage.
