Well, I don't have a ballast box and I need to hang some weight off the back, before I can put it to serious work. I wouldn't try lifting anything over about 200 lbs with it, as it is, and then only on level ground.
Why not hang a boxblade that's useful on the back -- instead of a carry-all box that I just load up with rocks and such?? I've found a ballast box for $200 (plus shipping) and the carryall would be $100 or so. A boxblade ($400 - 500, I'm guessing) would be a little bigger and more awkward to maneuver, but far more useful to me...
A 42" one would only be 1" wider than the rear tires (1/2" on each side)...
