If you think a BX is small

Small but mighty. Ask your neighbor with the 25hp Craftsman if he wants to have a pull off and tell him you only have "X" amount of power. Then proceed to tear the transmission out of his!!!

I just had my neighbor take delivery of my B6000 today. I told him it would out pull my 25hp GT5000 Sears tractor any day. I don't think he believed me. But he hopped on the B6000 and drove it home ( he lives almost two miles up the road), when he came back to pick up his truck he said, "that thing pulled me up that big hill in 3rd gear in high range at an idle!" Now he believes me! The B6000 is a work horse... If I did not purchased a larger tractor I would never have sold it. I am sure I will be sorry for giving her up!!!!!

Gary, since you have some "seat time" on a B6000, do you think it will handle a 48" boxblade OK? So far, I've only found one company who makes a 42" boxblade.

You can always take smaller bites, use only part of the width of the boxblade.
You have the aggressive tyres dont you?
Why not get the 42 from that single company that makes it?

Looks like I may have no choice, but I was hoping to have something to compare it to... Luckily, my local Kubota dealer handles that brand (Land Pride).... I'll get a price quote when I go in to pick up the ROPS I ordered.

I have a 42" Gannon box blade. They don't make make my model any more, but not all that long ago I thought I saw a different 42" box blade on their site. Gannon is now owned by Woods, and as I checked their sites today I could find box blades made only by Woods, no Gannon. The smallest was a Woods 48". It used to be that if I heard someone talking about a box blade he would refer to it as a "Gannon Box". Seems Woods has relegated Gannon to making nothing much but buckets.

You might try checking around with dealers who handle a fair amount of used attachments; there may be another like mine sitting on a lot somewhere. When I get home, I'll edit this post and give the model number.

Post Edit: The model is Gannon BK-42-4

( I have a B6100 and thought it was small, until I was at the local Kubota dealer (well, if you consider 40 miles away "local"), and he had a B5100 sitting there. Now THAT was small. I don't know anything about it, other than it had "B5100" on the hood. Quite a bit smaller than mine. Neat little tractor. )
Were any of these Hydro or were they all gear drive?

Well, I don't have a ballast box and I need to hang some weight off the back, before I can put it to serious work. I wouldn't try lifting anything over about 200 lbs with it, as it is, and then only on level ground.

Why not hang a boxblade that's useful on the back -- instead of a carry-all box that I just load up with rocks and such?? I've found a ballast box for $200 (plus shipping) and the carryall would be $100 or so. A boxblade ($400 - 500, I'm guessing) would be a little bigger and more awkward to maneuver, but far more useful to me...

A 42" one would only be 1" wider than the rear tires (1/2" on each side)...
