What features would you add or eliminate? I can get a custom built for 5% more than a factory unit.

I am going to buy a new trailer for my CUT, FEL and BH (at least 7000# net). It needs to be at least 20' long and bumper pull. My tow vehicle is '06 Chevy 2500HD, Duramax/Allison tranny.

Looking for your likes and dislikes, ideas for ramps, tie downs, decking, tires, axles, hitches, paint, etc!!

Help me build that perfect trailer!!

Pictures of your rigs would be great!!

- Lots of rope hooks; my trailer gets lots of use besides hauling the tractor. Pipe, lumber etc.
- rear jacks/stabilzers
- guards for the tail-lights
- brakes on both axles
- an extra 2' more than you think you need
- spare tire, mount, and lug wrench(the one for your truck probably won't fit...)

Good ideas

What about legs on ramps vs jacks or stabilizers?

I don't like the stabilizers/jack, they are a hasel in my opinion. The one on the ramps are there automaticly when the ramp is lowered. plus all the one trailers i have seen with jacks they stick up and can get in the way.

I second the 2ft more. I fill mine (20'+2') easyily with tractor and brush hog. The only thing i would add to mine are more D-rings for tieing down. I put wooden sides on mine and all the stake pockets are being used, it did come with 2 rings on the front of the trailer though. Ill post some pics later.

I like the +2 idea. that could be a dovetail so ramps would be shorter and easier to flip up. Anybody have spring assist ramps?

I like low flat deck with slide on ramps.

Lots and lots of tiedowns, and ones like this scattered around the floor:

these are not real good pictures but you can see how my ramps are held up or they will fold flat to make the dovetail a flat deck.
