Wow that's unusual! Most other forums people get mad about people asking the same question multiple times. That shows how great people here are.

Anyway, thanks for the info that should aid my search I have come across tractor data before I have found it informative. Now I think I have an idea of the configuration, what about the features that will make life easier. Varmint mentioned remote hydraulics, ssqa and the like? Is there others that I should be aware of?

Well if you start a bunch of random threads about a topic that's been covered is a whole different story.(ballast boxes for example) The search function on the site works pretty good and is even more powerful if you search the site with google. If its in a thread that you started and you have a question about an acronym go ahead and ask away.

Well the more bells and whistles you add to the tractor the less work it becomes but the price tag starts going up. Adding remotes for example is usually not cheap on a cut, although some models come with one. If you are thinking of getting 5 or 6 select-able control valves (scv's) the dollars go up big time.
Adding a cab is a great addition but I don't think it works well with a backhoe. I don't know much about the detachable ones, but a subframe is definitely recommended.

Oh and I just realized (I think) r-4 is like what you see on an industrial construction rubber tired backhoe that are like 3 feet wide (total guess) and r-1 what you would see farm tractor that's skinny? So r-4s are on the JD 110?

Ah, young one, so much to learn... Yoda?? Anyway, R-4's are usually wider, with more closely spaced lugs. They will be the most resistant to puncture, and can handle the most weight. Often, the best compromise tires. Sometimes called industrial tires.

Turfs will be the gentlest over soft ground or grass, causing the least compaction, and R-1's (ags) are as you mentioned thinner and with more widely spaced lugs- best for soft dirt, mud.

I suggest you simply start reading thru threads that seem interesting, and you will begin learning. Some are fairly arcane, and won't be of use to you, but who knows??

I think I have narrowed my options here based on this conversation and research on websites such as Google, other threads on this site, Tractor Data, and others Google has sent me to. Sice mentioned above I have realised that a backhoe attachment is a main desired feature.

Revised Criteria
- 50-60HP
- Backhoe attachment
- Rotating seat for backhoe (factor or modified to fit x tractor)
- Not super new but not super old (mainly for budget purposes)
-HST or shuttle Shift (but I think I can make due with gear if a have to)

If I'm missing anything that you think I should add please do so.

If you want a backhoe attachment with only one seat to my knowledge that leaves you with the Deere 110, the Kubota tlb's, or a JCB cx mini. The 110's seat flips back, doesn't rotate. The kubota's rotatoe as do the Jcb's.

However these machines have different setups then a regular tractor overall and at the hind end and a higher price tag.

Dang I was afraid of that. Well I guess that's out. I looks like I'll have to live with the tractor style.
