I can't see any of them playing along with not being able to influence departure fuel level - that's just crazy.

Enjoy the weekends,

Rgds, D.

really. you think i have or should magically have control over how much fuel is in the tank of a truck when i show up to work? really. Like i can wave my hand and make that 1/4 tank fill in the shop yard, because the last person to use the vehicle ran it out.. drove in.. clocked out and left?

someone thinks i have should have magical powers???

As I get past middle age, my collective experience says there are more rude people than their used to be, but that's probably just the cumulation of my experiences talking, in addition to there being more of all kinds of people (population growth).

I've come to the conclusion it's not worth popping a vein about anymore, and try my best to take a mental valium in such situations, maybe try to politely say "could you use the non-diesel island next trip?".

Like one poster said, a lady did not even know what diesel was.

Life is too short to kill yourself worrying about inevitable ignorance and/or stupidity.

Come on folks and settle down. Think of the days when you pulled up there was someone to put in fuel, got the tires checked, windows washed, windshield washer filled, oil checked an maybe even the air filter checked. All you did was sit in the car and hand the credit card out the window.

I thought those were the days of cash only. Credit cards hadn't been invented yet?

I'm the same way, when I find I'm getting frustrated. If I'm pulling a trailer and frustrated from a crowded gas line I will just go down the road to the next station.

The extra $5 was to replace the oil drain plug that they damaged.

I hate quick change places for that very reason. I think they use impact wrenches doing oil changes. I have seen and heard many times about oil plugs, and also filters on WAY TOO TIGHT.

Not on any of my vehicles, but on relatives that dont do their own oil change all the time. They go to the quick shops, then next time try it themselves. End up calling me cause the oil plug is either rounded, or sooo tight you need a 1/2" breaker bar.

My FIL's truck, they put the plug on so tight, next time he went to do it, it twisted the nut off that is welded inside the pan. Ended up costing him a new pan.

In all of my vehicles, and ALWAYS doing my own changes, I have never needed special tools to remove an oil filter, and I have NEVER had any oil plug related issues. always come back out easy with a simple ratchet wrench and not too much effort.

Most of the company trucks I am around either have a company credit card for that vehicle or operators have them. But one way or another we have many card reader fuel islands a person can fuel up and then can complain to the boss later joe blow didn't fill his truck. :hissyfit:

Pretty clearly, we're not on the same wavelength...... I was talking about the amount of fuel at the start of the day - who actually does it, apparently that seems to be a p***ing contest at your workplace - something I have zero interest in debating.

People seem to be getting bent waaayyyyy out of shape on this gas pump issue. I was attempting to make some constructive suggestions on the topic, my apologies Soundguy if my PollyAnna version of reality offended you.

That truly is a sincere apology, no tinge of sarcasm meant.

This thread has provided me with a lot to think about, concerning the next time I fuel up in the USA.

Thanks for the data. Now unsubscribed.

I think you have the thread title wrong here,, Your stopping at a Connivance store for gas.. And the definition is
"convenience store
n.
A small retail store that is open long hours and that typically sells staple groceries, snacks, and sometimes gasoline"

Well the way I look at if you want to get gas go to a "Gas station"...

"(US)
a gas station (sense 2); specif., one that primarily or only sells gasoline for motor vehicles"

Not cash only. Lots of checks, including counter checks. A real nightmare for the attendant.
