We have some of those here. Old RR beds which have been turned into trails for biking, ATVing, x-country skiing and snowsledding.
I grew up on snowsleds, we used to go riding every Sunday; often including a cookout. After school, weekends and vacations we would ride; first in the field, but as we got older we were allowed to go farther. Sometimes when my father came home from work my mother would have the totesled all packed and we'd go down back for an evening cookout. I don't care to do that now but see a lot of people out enjoying themselves.
The Maine Snowmobile Association has also been a textbook example of how users can form groups, organize trails and work with private landowners to have a great trail system in winter.
The Warden Service is also good about following up on complaints as well as enforcing muffer laws. They will be the first to tell you that people don't want to hear somebody's rat pipes at 10:00 at night.
It's too bad that they can't do the same about those

Harleys.
