Wow, your ducks did way better than mine. Could not keep them in the pond & they kept walking through the pasture to the road....yep a school bus got all 4 of them at the same time. I built my pond to the cattle to drink, so I can't fence it off, so no more ducks :/

You can run chicken wire on the bottoms of your barb wire fences if your really, really, wanted them to roam AND have a pond. hehehe.
Soon the ducks will be sharing the pond with 25 new ducklings and some catfish. Maybe this time the cats won't die...........with all the water churning the duck do!

The two ponds have very different native coloring and it seems the background makes the island pond stand out better in photos. Right now, it's a greenish color. Oh yeah.........it's hard to get the same shade in both ponds.

Thanks Mark. I keep thinking.........will I be want to leave here for retirement. To be closer to this pumpkin ....................yes. I pray I can find the right property I am thinking about for retirement. Numerous Mountain Junipers (cedar) and numerous ravines (gullies) to make ponds out of.

Thanks Charlie. Those Duck Commander boys have nothing on me. I need to research for more duck delicacy grasses to plant.:cool2: The Chufa I planted (first time) didn't turn out at all.

On a better note, the two year old rye grass seed I put out around the fence at the mailbox finally sprouted.

What is this blue dye? Does it effect any fish, insects or plants?

I'm not home to double check the label, But it is embedded somewhere on this thread. I think it is called Aqua Blue or Aqua Shade. TSC sales it for around $50 a gallon. It blocks the suns so algae is stopped to a degree. Then corn meal and aeration is needed. You can also buy a black dye, for small ponds with lights to enjoy at night. It doesn't effect anything, but the targeted algae blooms.

I released the 25 ducklings out into the pond today. I pray they stay away from the far fence, as I forgot is my neighbor's field fence and these ducklings are small enough to go thru it.

I sold 15 ducklings on Thursday, and released the other 10 out on the pond, today. I chased them into the water and they retreated to the island. The tree in front of the is a Cypress tree my neighbor gave me. These shots are telephoto photos.............
