Had to register to respond on this one. Looks like quartz, and a really nice sample at that. Take a nail/knife/piece of steel. and try and scratch it. If it scratches it's probably calcite. If not, almost 100% likely its quartz. I'm pretty familiar with, and have done a fair bit of geology work in your area and quartz veins are common.

That is a much better pic, from the others you could never tell that rock looked like that.
