Buying Advice Is it good for me?

/ Is it good for me? #22
I just finalized a deal on a used B26 that was a great deal and not to be found anywhere else, however in my search I looked at any brand and size available in the used market and finally decided that most of them were overprices on Tractorhouse, Machinery Trader and other websites including Craigslist. Whenever I found one that was reasonable, it sold so quickly that I couldnt even get a bid in. Then I began to get pricing on new Kubota and Kioti CK 20 TLB new for 20,500, CK27 25,900, Kubota 2920 about 25K. Every one of the tractors has a sweet spot and then a not so sweet price. A fairly used B21 with 1500 or so hours would be run about 12K to 15K but with that you have much more capacity than an add on to a tractor. The reason that the B20,B21 (both discontinued models) and the current B26 are so pricey is that they are designed as a TLB first and a compact tractor second. You dont even find them in the Kubota website under tractors, you have to look under Construction Equipment. The specs are way higher in all aspects, ie digging depth, lift height, lift capacity of both FEL and backhoe than even the 27 and 30 Hp tractors with backhoe attachments. If you only need light duty lifting then an add on backhoe might be your best bet but if you want a real TLB with real backhoe capacity in a small package look at the B26 models. Compare the spec sheets first then look at the comfort and extras that you get on the B 26. The only problem is finding a used one for sale and new ones will be almost double the cost of a comparable 20-26 HP tractor with FEL and Backhoe attachment.

This is why I'm so confused, now there is so many different tractors. B2630, B26, B2620 and all priced so different and even if you take tracto and add loader and add backhoe than 24000 but the B26 TBL is 37000 - this is crazy. I just want something that will grade when I sod, load my F550 properly, lift some weight when I get the forks and dig a little with the backhoe and that's it and figured a tractor was more conveinent that a bobcat cause can do more.

Pretty much a BX25 but with more power, now so confusing.

Again its been helpful with this forum but made me have to learn a lot.

I'll make it easy for you, get the B2620.

I've been around a lot of different Kubota tractors and done work similar to what you are doing. If I were in your shoes I'd get a B2620 with turf tires and the LA364 loader/BH65 backhoe. That setup would be easy on customers lawns, very maneuverable, much more loader capacity than your current mini-skid steer, and have a backhoe capable of doing almost any landscaping related tasks. Also, while more expensive than the Bx25, it is still much cheaper than the other larger units. If you really shop around, drive a hard bargain, and pay cash, you should be able to get that unit for $20K.

The B26 is a true construction grade machine, they also make a L and a M version, which are even larger machines. The B26 has a fixed end loader, meaning you can't take it off easy. The back hoe can be removed and a 3 point can be installed. It also has a FROPS instead of a ROPS, which just means it has more of a roll cage instead of a roll bar. The biggest difference is its a more heavily built machine, but the biggest difference performance wise is much stronger hydraulics, which gives the end loader and backhoe more power. I think a B26 would do a much better job of loading your F550 then the other mahcines you are looking at, but as you see, they are serious bucks.
