You still have the options to read the mail from the people on your ignore list... You just have to click a link and it opens their message ..

I don't want to put an adversary on an ignore list. It was some famous (or infamous) person who once said something like "it is more important to know your enemies than your friends".

"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Have no idea who that was, but I think that's how it goes.

The Army of North Viet Nam practiced a stratagy known as "hug the belt". By being right on top of your enemy, they couldn't fire artillery directly on VC positions without hitting their own. It worked all too well.

That's a little more drastic than anything on TBN, but the same principal we've been discussing

Spivey,
I hadn't seen it on here before until I did it several months back (but then again, I've only been registered with TBN for 10 months), I ran across another on a sig just a few days ago.

It started out as me being a smart alec because I got into a quasi-heated conversation with another gentleman on TBN. Then in a PM, he said he was going to add me to his ignore list. I made it easy for him...
Now it's pretty much a joke, but I am sure I've chapped a few people and they've used my shortcut.

Some folks take online forums way way too seriously, don't they?

All it takes is will power to ignore a post. Those who have none have to rely on automation.

I have checked on this thread off and on, and have not read every post. Just want to say, I like TBN just the way it is. I've learned a ton since joining, and more than once someone made me snicker;) . I guess I've gotten a lot more out of it than I've put in. Someday I'll be a wise old tractor owner, and I'll share all that wisdom with the newbies. I might even make someone snicker.

What you casually dismiss out of hand as lack of willpower could be construed as conflict avoidance.. IE.. 'discretion is the better part of valor'.. etc..

Automation is a fact of life and a common convienience. No dishonor in not using a convienience.. If you disagree.. sell your car and walk to work.. your health and the planet will be better for it. ( Or wait!.. are some convieniences ok? hmmmmm )

I refuse to add anyone to my ignore list... I would miss a lot of free entertainment. ;)

Can I have a big AMEN! About the only reason I could think of for someone putting another member on IGNORE would be an arguement of some sort. As someone who's been a part of my share of those, let me tell you how silly I think it is to get all bent out of shape over an INTERNET ARGUEMENT with someone you've probably never met, nor ever will meet. And besides, these "debates" are nothing short of hilarious at times. ;)

Once again, Roy hit it square on the head. Some people take this stuff FAR TOO SERIOUSLY.
