Mike, That's sounds like a better idea. Why not do this( prune the thread of un- wanted or offensive stuff) instead of closing the whole thread b-4 others get a chance to add comments ?
Pruning a thread is much like pruning a tree. First, a neighbor (the TBN members) points out your tree is ugly or sick and needs trimming. You stand back and look at it, figure out which branches need clipping, step into it and clip a branch or two. Then you step back to look at it and find another branch has grown (TBN members are prolific posters). Try as you might to make sense of the thread, people keep adding branches. So you freeze the thread by locking it, take time to re-read the entire thread for continuity, consult your fellow moderators on the gnarly widow makers hanging in the branches and figure out the best way to prune it. If it is not possible to save the tree but is in no danger of falling on anyone, you leave it locked. If it is going to hurt someone, you remove it. And if the tree survives your pruning, you unlock it and let it live and continue to grow.

Really, I'd rather just sit here and read TBN and not have to moderate anything. But I, like many other TBN members, sometimes make inappropriate posts and don't even realize it until someone else points it out. Wether making a comment that offends someone else, or stepping too deep into politics or religion, or being too zealous promoting only the greatest tractor ever made, I take no offense when one of my posts is moderated. ;)

I for one like this forum. It is a place where the sharing of ideas take place and the accumulation of ideas help greatly. No single individual knows it all, about anything. On occasion I have plugged a dealer who has treated me extremely well when they did not have to.
In addition, I like the forum because of the fact it is a clean forum. I have never tried to inject my religious, political beliefs into any post. But would not feel bad to let my grandkids read the posts on here.
At times I may have disagreed with someone, on some points. However, if I have offended anyone, I here and now, ask forgiveness, and apologize from the heart.
I am on religious forums that have more animosity than I see here.
I appreciate this because there are years of learning that one can draw from.
I do have a question, if your on anyones ignore list is there anyway to find that out? And, I hope that isn't out of line but I would love to send that person an apology if I am on their list.

As a member of 5 other forums in different countries it's easy to forget yourself ,Most of which are un-modreated and you can say what you feel ,And sometimes you forget there are strict rules here .I guess it works,Kids don't need to see that?
Other forums turn into racial wars and swearing matches (one in particular is international and is non stop attacks on other countries) But it is laughed off and theres no need for it but sometimes it's good to speak your mind .

Well, I'm not sure which threads you are referring to and it is not TBN policy to discuss moderation of specific threads in public. However, I can assure you that none of the moderators targets any individual for monitoring. We don't have enough time in the day for that kind of stuff. There are just too many posts made here each day to keep up.

Well, that was another example of why I should have used the quote feature. No one knows what the heck I was referring to, now.

If you were refering to my posts, I deleted them because they served no purpose except to make me feel better, and I feel fine without them. If you want to discuss it, PM me. If not, thats fine, Im good with it.
EDIT: I'll PM you because I would like you to know Im not making this stuff up.

I too have wondered this. I think it would be neat to have another little "light", like the one that shows if your online. If you aren't on anyones ignore list, it could stay green, then if you are, it would turn to a different color, with a number inside showing how many have you "ignored".

If there's any way to find out you're on someone's ignore list, I sure don't know about it. So, I'm guessing there isn't without actually knowing.

Would it be a neat little feature? Well, I certainly wouldn't have any objection to it, but I don't think it would be worth much to me, personally. In my opinion, there are plenty of more important issues to keep Muhammad and Ibrahim busy.;)

If I was on someones ignore list, I don't think I would like to know about it. It would just haunt me wanting to know who it was and why they put me there. It would probably even build up resentment and anger. Glad I don't know.;)
