Make a U turn on Podunkadunk's sign. :) :)

:D Ha! Point well taken. I really do like that sign.

Funny how those things work out! If two candidates of similar qualifications are competing for a program...

No matter which side of this issue you happen to be on, I don't think there's any denying that there are countless examples where standards are lowered for specific groups of people. Some think it is OK to do that. We all lose out when that happens. Even those who seem to benefit from this way of doing things lose out in the long run. I've had several female employees tell me not to ever promote them because they are female. They want to know that they earned everything they get and don't ever want anyone thinking it was because they were female. There are differences though when people's lives are at stake. When it's an office job, well, it still stinks to be passed over, but such is life. But when we're talking about a fire fighter, or a combat pilot, these are not roles that should be filled by candidates meeting political agendas. Here more than anywhere, the best people should fill those jobs.

Maybe the only exception to this would be "Special Olympics". It's about playing, not ability.:D

I gave my 2 weeks notice yesterday due to office politics/favoritism.:mad:

For sure. That's a great organization. This may sound crass, but I also appreciate the Walmart, Meijer, Target kind of places that hire disabled individuals to greet and such. That's cool when a company can provide a service and provide for a need like that. Maybe this is a good way to put that subject to bed. :)

Ryan;
I see through your subtle attempt to bring this thread back on topic. :D (I like TBN just the way it is, too).;)

Actually the last couple of pages were a calculated, coordinated, covert operation bent on proving that while maintaining a "family friendly" atmosphere, TBN still provides a venue in which to discuss semi-controversial subjects, engage in polarized debates surrounding often taboo subject matter, AND still be friends. :)

In essence we have just proved that TBN is not TOO family friendly by allowing some of these discussions, AND proved that the family friendly nature of this forum IS what allowed such a civil discussion. Point in case, after our little exchange, SPYDERLK offered me some advice in another thread on a problem I'm having with my tractor. That is class, and why I love this forum.

How's that for turning the ship? ;)

.. I must say.. the idiot filter here works great. I've only seen a very small number here that would make that qualification. AFAIK.. none of them are still here.

soundguy

As usual, I show up late to the good threads. I like TBN, even if I get scolded or told to hush eventually. Hope I didn't slip through the cracks on you Soundguy.:)

I occaisonally slip up sometimes and rattle off a "bad word" or two. I'm sure we've all said one I time or two. Especially when you rack your shin on the hitch ball on the back of the truck! "Oh, poopie that hurt!".....yeah right!

I was recently reminded of the "family friendly" atmosphere here after I left a post about my divorce, opps!

TBN is a really great site, not only for useful information but for good friendships as well.

However, I think that the thing that really makes me want to not come back is all of the "ney sayers". How about a filter for them! I've posted before about this. A guy or girl who feels proud about a project posts something here, they may or may not be asking for advice, but simply feel that it is important enough for them to share with us all. Next thing you know, instead of hearing "nice job, nice project, etc". You hear, "Well YOU did not have the ROPS folded up, or YOU did not tell the kids to get back (because they were seen in the picture), or blah blah....whatever!

Some just are not happy unless there is controversy.
