Is the verdict in on the "new" Boomers vs. the TC's?

Wondering if the new Boomers are as reliable and well made as the ones from a few years ago. I have a TC26DA and am thinking about trading up to a slightly larger machine, mainly for bigger loader. Very happy with the TC26DA though and don't want to make any very expensive mistakes. Looking around, I see that the Kubotas don't really give you much more loader when you go to a 30 or 35 hp tractor, but the New Hollands apparently do, if Tractordata is right. Also looking at MF and Bobcat, but think I'd rather stay blue if all else is right.

The only negative about the TC26 DA is the oft-mentioned boner of putting the HST pedal and the brake pedals on the same side of the tractor, though I have been considering making some kind of lever attachment to work the HST pedal so my foot could use the steering brakes, but the motivation for actually doing it hasn't come forward, lol. So, I just keep the brake pedals locked.

I have a 2006 TC45A that I really like. It has about 1300 hours on it, and I'm considering trading it. When I went to the dealer, he steered me towards a Mahindra 5010. He said the new Boomers are not made in the same country and are 'not the same tractor' as the older ones.

If I do trade, I will go with a Mahindra 5035, and I will not go back with a New Holland.

We have sold a few of the new Boomers made by LS. They certainly are not as popular or as sought after as the Shibaura-built TC's. But from a parts man's standpoint we have sold exactly zero safety switches, relays, ignition switches and glowplug controllers and things of that nature for the LS Boomers.

The new 30xx super suite II series are the old motors. Not LS. If you are looking for a cab I would look hard at these. I almost bought a Kioti but the new 3040 arrived the day I showed up to sign papers on DK40 cab. No contest outside of loader. Love the CVT

I have the 12LA loader. It's a good loader and pretty strong, but would like something quite a bit stronger, wider for more snow and able to handle bigger loads of rocks and gravel. Unfortunately, loader size pretty much is linear with the tractors for the most part, though Kubotas tend to be a little lighter and Mahindras a little heavier. Would love to go up to an only slight larger tractor that could handle 2000 pounds in the loader, but does not exist..

This is all assuming that the numbers that the manufacturers give are accurate and apples-to-apples, which is not guaranteed, but it appears I'd have to go to something like a 42 hp Kubota to get the loader capacity I could get out of a 35 hp NH. But the 35 hp NH is really too big physically for what I need in other respects, i.e. mowing. The largest Kubota B series tractors don't have much more loader capacity than my TC26DA. A 32 Hp L series, does, but it's a much bigger tractor. And to get a stronger loader still, you'd have to go up a couple more notches on the hp scale.

Looking at the numbers now, it does appear that the Kubota L series loaders are pretty close to the comparable NH numbers. It's just the B series that is a little light.

Loader capacity is tied to front axle capacity and by default, chassis size. Can't be busting up front end components because we hung a strong loader over a small axle.

I just bought a NH T1520 HST (35 eng, 28 PTO) with 110TL FEL & 'filled' R-4s to replace my '90s 1520 with 7308 FEL & unfilled turfs. Weight bare (w/o FEL & rim-guard) is about the same as my oldie & the TC30 (~2200lb), tho' 1.7 liter power is just above the TC30's 1.5L. None of these will lift nearly 2k lbs very high, if at all, and the larger T1530 weighs nearly 1k more with or without filled tires. 'LS' Boomers seem to have slightly more powerful loaders than Shibaura Ts & TCs, but not by 10% or anything.

Anyway, I might not mow with something even this size without expecting ruts to appear along edges where it'd track nearly the same every time. IMO there's not much out there with the lift power you'd like and that would mow nice enough, but that depends a lot on what & where you'd be mowing. Trying to do both well with the same tractor could leave a guy dissatisfied doing either job.

A friend of ours purchased a new Boomer 35 to replace his Kubota which was lost in a garage fire. He is very please with the tractor.

I have a NH TC35A (Shibaura) Boomer that has been a really good tractor. I have been thinking about getting a 45-50 HP tractor to have a little additional 3 PH and FEL lift capacity. I first looked at the Boomer 50, Kubota and a Kioti. They are all nice tractors including the Boomer 50. Comments from the owners in the LS section made me want to look at a LS. It is definitely worth looking at. The R4041 and R4047 (same frame with different HP) seem to be very well made tractors. I was traveling near Rocky Mount, NC where the LS tractors are assembled. I stopped and tested one at a local dealership. The R4041 (Shuttle) is very smooth and the controls are well laid out. The FEL works great and will lift a pretty heavy load. The R4041 was quoted for ~$20,000 with the FEL and filled tires. The R4047 was ~$21,000 for the same set-up. They are the same tractor, but the R4047 has 6 more HP. Same lift capacity from the FEL and the 3PH.

The frame does not seem as big as my TC35A. I like the seating position of my tractor because you can see the top of the bucket from the drivers seat. You set lower on the LS and have to view the bucket from the side like most other tractors.

It would be hard to trade my TC35A because it is like part of the family and it is totally paid off with 481 hours on the meter. If I were looking at tractors again I would definitely consider a LS R4041 or R4047. It is just about the rights size frame for brush cutting and working around trees. They have strong FELs and nice features (QA Bucket, 2 rear remotes, deluxe 3PH, electric PTO) that are standard.

So to answer you question about the "New" Boomer tractors .... I would definitely own one, but I would buy the LS version and pay about $5K less for it vs. a NH Boomer.

Just a couple more comments ... The rear wheels on my TC35A can be dished in or out to change the width of the rear tires. Both the LS and new Boomer tractors do not have this adjustment. They are fixed at a set width. The smaller NH Boomers that I saw at the NH Dealer all had the FEL controls mounted on the fender like the LS R4041 and R4047. The mounting bracket is the same. The smaller HP LS tractors I saw had the FEL controls mounted on the FEL itself. I like the fender mount better. The NH Boomers do have some cosmetic differences vs. the LS tractors, but they are essentially the same.
