Is there a better built 4 ft Brush Hog Than This?

Looks nice but I'm curious if it's too heavy for a SCUT and too narrow for a CUT who's it marketed towards? Just askin. :)7

I agree. Who needs a heavy duty four foot rotary cutter? Has anyone ever worn out or destroyed even a light duty cutter like a Bush Hog Squealer in this size? Twenty horsepower tractors are not used commercially or for heavy duty work by farmers anymore.

I'd be more interested in how the six foot version stacks up vs the competition.

Slighty disagree. I use my 22HP BX-2200 exclusively for commercial work.

Understood but you probably use it in limited access areas and not for the tough jobs requiring heavy duty equipment. My point was just that four foot equipment does not usually need to be heavy duty in order to survive. I "beat the snot" out of a four foot entry level Bush Hog Squealer for three years with a 20hp tractor and barely scratched the paint. There is just not enough energy in those small CUTs to damage equipment like rotary mowers.

Your 4 years of work likely wouldn't add up to a months worth of work for many folks using their CUTs for commercial work. Obviously the market would be smaller than that of a HD 6', but clearly there are people who use them.

I understand your point but wonder how many commercial operations really use four foot cutters except for limited and special difficult access situations. I cannot imagine that even in commercial use these smaller mowers accumulate thousands of hours use like a HD six or ten foot mower might.

I don’t know the answer, but since Ken said he’s been selling them for 30 years, someone is using them. :D

I really hoped it would not come to this. I am going to show my bottom :D This is the underside of all of this Hawlkine/International series cutters. Notice how it protects the blade carrier in forward and in reverse. In 25 + years, I have never had a blown gearbox or bent output shaft on these International/Hawkline cutters (4-5 or 6 ft). BTW, You get the full 4 ft cut with these machines. They measure about 4 inches wider than 4 ft to accommodate for blade clearance. We do sell Hawkline entry level cutters that weigh much less, where weight is a concern. Ken Sweet

That "bottom" pic shows how the loose blades can contact each other, and possibly stick throwing the rc out of balance. Thanks

Are these from China?
