About that blade carrier protection... it looks to me that is to make up for the lack of a stump jumper.... which I would not consider ideal. Apparently most rotary cutter manufacturers don't consider it ideal either b/c they use actual stump jumpers.

Yes. it has a flywheel/stumpjumper as well as the deflectors for front and back movement. A conventional setup with no stump jumper would be a straight bar running horizontal with 2 blades attached. No round disc. Ken Sweet
