TYM T330 w/ lt300 loader
I have been looking for a way to transport my new T330. With loader and filled tires I feel I need at least 10k for capacity. With implements we are talking about 5500lb plus. I ran into this trailer on Craigs. It is homemade, but appears built like a tank. I own a 2500 dodge truck with Cummins diesel. I know this is going to be extremely heavy. He wants $900.00 for this. I know there will be a project involved. Comments please.

This trailer is 8X20feet. Would it be difficult to make it a gooseneck?

GN modification will depend on what the frame looks like. I'd guess 10-20 blacksmiths hours + materials would get it done.

Personally I'd pass on it because a tri-axle runs down the road smooth but destroys tires on corners.

From what I can see in the pictures at $900 plus tires, brake & bearing service, lights & wiring, and possible change to gooseneck - why? Their are too many good trailer deals in Mo. I'm thinking of making a trip to Sikeston myself.
Also tri-axles can be tough on tires unless really needed for GVW.

I would pass also. 7 new tires, one for a spare, you are looking at $600. New bearings, you are looking at $200. New lights, wiring, battery, break away, you are looking at $200. Lets not get started on the brakes.

As mentioned before take a trip to Sikeston, MO.

That trailer is worth more as scrap steel with the prices today.

As an engineer, I don't agree with the build of the trailer from the outside. Maybe the frame is stronger than it appears but it looks like a trailer that weighs 4000 lbs with a GWVR of 10K lbs. The jogs in the outer W beams would make the trailer weak if they are the main load carrying components.

A stronger, lighter manufactured trailer is what you need. There are plenty of used 10K lb dual axle trailers out there with decent components for not much more money. I just bought one myself for $600 (a 7K lb trailer) that only needs wood and tires. It was more convenient for me because I already have the wood and tires.

Plus, look at the deck of that trailer. Smooth steel with no grips. A slight amount of mud or water will cause your tractor to slide off. Wet steel is extremely slippery. That alone would make me pass on the deal.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will pass. That is what I was wanting from you guys. Good honest opinions. I appreciate your time and response. Gotta love this forum! I will keep looking.

I am going to look at this after work. He says some of the wood needs replacing. Broken tail light, and could use some tires. He is going to throw the chains and brake controller in with it for $850 as well as the pindle receiver w/ 2 5/8 ball. What do you think? No ramps but I weld and have the material to do it. Is it worth looking at?

The neck on that is braced nice, but it is some small steel. Most 10k trailers have 2"x6" channel. That would be a 14k with what looks like 1&1/2" x4" channel.

Seriously, "bargain" trailers are not a bargain! Check the tires. You probably will need 4, figure that costing $400 for some cheap ones mounted. The brakes are probably toast. Figure on $200-400 depending on if you need just magnets, or machining too. The bearings and seals may also be toast. The wood looks like heck. Hows the lighting and wires? I would guess that you would need to add 800-1000 to that trailer to get it road ready.
