Yes its that time of year. The leaves are turning color, actually just turning brown and falling off due to the drought, but you get my drift. A chill in the night air. Most people call it the fall season.
Around here its marijuana eradication season. The choppers are already doing their grid searches in our area and will continue until frost. Must say something about our area.
Anyone else live in a grow area?

I had three "dudes" try to grow. Their area of choice was right across the county road from my place. These "dudes" were DEFINITELY some of the dullest tools in the shed. Out of desperation they came and talked to me one day. Would I come over and see why their garden wasn't growing. I know absolutely nothing about growing weed. So I was little help. Their great plans went down - just like their plants. They tried once - couldn't make it work - sold the property. Now there is a great family on the property. Making it a home for themselves and their children.

Most of the boys around here have got pretty good at growing it. Its a game of hide and seek with the law.

Ah - I see the difference. WA allows growing for medical & recreational use. KY - neither.

Looks like they need to go back to White Lightin.:D

Whitman Co has about had it with the growers. One application for a permit to process the crap has been tabled for over a year now and is still under discussion. A petition going around now is to ban any future grows/procession/shops, etc. Existing ones grandfathered in. Neighbors hate the stink for one thing.

Biggest mistake ever was making it legal.

Yes - but most unfortunately, BIG politics rule. And all they could see was - $$$$. They could care less about any associated problems with this crap.

Funny you mention that. My wife and I are currently on vacation driving around eastern Kentucky. We drove around a curve this morning outside of Grayson, KY, and she said hey, there's a christmas tree farm. I didn't think anything of it. On the way back from the state park we were at, I looked at that christmas tree farm.... and it was pot plants! Hemp, to be more correct. Saw another field in Grayson. Apparently hemp is a legal crop in KY. Go figure.

Nope. What's that?

Excellent series. Ya need to watch it.
But it was a bit confusing when they could go from Lexington to Harlan in 15 minutes. Ive drove it too many times to believe that.

And yes we are a growing hemp now. Not sure I buy into the miracle products that can be derived from it. Years ago there was a lot of hemp grown in my county for fiber production. My family grew a lot of it.

Hemp was grown up here during the world wars. It's still fairly common on the ditches.

It is legal in Maine, but it is easy to figure out why. You leave the State Capital of Augusta (a place that is hard to visit without getting the clap) and there are (5) Pot Stores within 5 miles of that city...some within sight of another.

I am not sure if the State Employees are just that stressed out, or if we have pot-heads running the State?

I have a different viewpoint. When it was contraband, the growers were all outlaws who could get pretty nasty if you messed with their crop. They planted it on private land, and would put various types of booby traps to protect their "crop." One former coworker (who recently became director of the Maine Forest Service) came across a patch with fish line encompassing it at eye level... with fish hooks dangling from it. I know of a logging contractor who's equipment has been torched so many times that if they come across a patch while cutting, they pull out all of the equipment immediately and return after harvest season.

Now that it's ostensibly legal there's less incentive to grow it in remote spots on other people's land.

Hemp and pot are different animals...about the same but Hemp doesn't have enough of the 'good stuff' to get high on. Not sure if it is leagal in Washington yet but it is being looked at. I think Oregon has it. A truckload of Hemp was impounded in Idaho IINM last summer as not legal there, just being trucked elsewhere. I don't know where that case has gotten to.

Ever watch 'Justified' ?

I'm only on season 2. Don't spoil what so far is one of the best shows ever made! Wished I had known about it years ago when it was on the air.

It keeps getting better...
It gets really good after the 3rd season...my favorite character is Tim...his sarcasm is over the top...

It does rate right up there with the "best shows"...'Breaking Bad' will top most lists and of course GoT...If you can tolerate some quite earthy language watch the even older series 'Deadwood' (also stars Timothy Olyphant)...and the follow up movie...

The only ding I would give 'Justified' is...the writing is so superb...it's hard to believe the words are coming from the portrayed characters...:D

Leave it to you to glean out a nugget like this.

It's kinda crazy that I can remember stupid stuff like that all day long, but have trouble with important stuff, like job related, what did I come to the store for, etc...
