I'm sure it does but the timing sucks. Try to do without a kitchen sink during the holidays and you'll find it's very inconvenient. can't do anything about it either....

Agree there - hopefully you can get it working enough to use it and then get the parts to fix it quickly after the holidays.

I think he mentioned that SWMBO has already put in an order for a new sink and faucet. Apart from that Moen "buy it for looks, buy it for life" means you get your parts from them and that takes awhile.

Duck tape: you hillbillys still use that crap? Much beteer is Bubba Tape . Red poly stuff, sticks like crazy, and leaves NO RESIDUE.

I built here in 2010 and counting the Moens...four lavs, one kitchen, one laundry, two bath/shower, one tub. All purchased through a plumbing supply house (and I'm sure there is a difference based on the questions you have to answer when you call). My goal was to keep the Moen brand so a few spare parts here and there could be deployed where-ever needed. That didn't work out because it seems the cartridges are not uniform but the plan made sense at the time. I remodeled the MIL house a few years ago and installed Moen shower there that failed pretty quickly and I didn't have time to wait for the warranty parts (MIL is close to 90 and everything is NOW...the replacement cartridge was expensive). Btw, Delta makes some good stuff also.

My house was built in 1973 and has Emco brand plumbing fixtures. I am positive they were at the time the cheapest ones on the market but all I have ever had to do every decade or so is replace a cartridge or two and those are cheap too.

I think the proper name is truly "duck tape" derived from it utilizing cotton duck material. Further proof is that it doesn't work on ducts.

UL181 3" peel back is pretty much my go to duct tape. Approved for and works on ductwork (metal, not fiberglass ductwork), so I call it duct tape

For all use, eyeball equal amounts of each color on a paper plate (one color on first, the other color on top of it) and stir with plastic knife. Throw paperplate and plastic knife away after use.

Using this method help me keep some parts on my VW for another 100k or so, no complaints.

Speaking of tape, try some Gorilla tape next time you need a repair. It sticks, wears better than the silver stuff and is almost impossible to pull off.

I've got some Gorilla tape on my truck seat and sofa. Has held up well. Works like a heavy duty packaging cellophane tape.

Well guys, first time it's a failure. Came apart when trying to test faucet. Back to the shop, mixed another batch paying more attention to portions and tried again. This time I spread some on the sides of part to get more contact area. I'll wait a couple hours and try again..

Quite possible that it failed due to not being clean enough. I forgot to drain the standpipe, chunk broke out of the top, JB weld fixed it but I cleaned it and the surrounding area thoroughly and then built up mass beyond the break.

JB Weld has all kinds of uses. This is my latest. If I could find a butter dish like this I wouldn't have to resort to such things.

I have temporarily glued many things with JB Weld and , 10-25 years later it's still holding. I just clean and make surface perfect, mix some of "A" and some of "B" and clamp till cured. Beats me and I don't think I've ever had anything come apart.

Possible, but it never seemed to really harden to a "bondo" type hardness even after I made sure both parts were equal.
I don't have any faith in it now.

Just curious...did the epoxy itself separate in the fail or did it separate from one or the other surfaces?

Also, any chance you can show pictures of the handle and the bond you were trying to make?

I usually use a sheet of white paper (like from a notepad) to mix on, and the end of a heavy wooden match to mix. I TRY my best to get exactly equal-sized "blobs" of resin and hardener, but I believe that if you are within 15-20% you'll be fine. At least that's been my very successful experience.

The two pieces I posted in #26 just separated. No strength at all.
It wasn't the handle that broke, it was a separate piece that made the connection between the handle and cartridge stem

They do make a few different versions I think for different repairs but remember it is really just a modified epoxy and as such if epoxy wasn't going to work then this wouldn't be much better. Looking at the piece that broke (which looks to be subject to stress) I had serious doubts it was going to work. Not a lot of glue surface there.
