JD 1020 power steering

Hello,

I removed the senzor shaft and the old, worn-out seal components. Now I want to replace it with the new seals and fix it with a totally new shaft, axle....

The Teflon rings are hard-how can I put them in their location... How could I soften them... should I put in worm or hot water before... or what should I do....

The L/D lever under seat is positioned in D, I need just to plug in the new shaft to its place and the job its finished?!!!!

Warm the teflon seals in warm water. Apply hyd oil to shaft prior to installation.

After all you must do the shimming with special shims !

I have quite a lot of problems.... I put in the O-ring to there location, after that warmed the Teflon ring in hot water, but I did not really manage to put it in.... After trying more times, the ring was damaged.... Finally, I put the other ring, inserted the new shaft / soo one side is fixed and its seems to me quite good. Now I dont have more rings, soo I already ordered new ones.... Soo now one side of the shaft is fixed, and for the other side I wait for the new plastic rings....

In my opinion, it could be fixed perfectly and easily if I would pull out the entire T22097 bushing... I am right?!

You put shims between the tractor T22097 bushing and the lower lift arm to take up the play.

Why do you think removing the T22097 bushing will solve your problem? John Deere specifically advises against doing that. The reason is the bushing is pressed in. R & R of it could cause it to wear the transmission case where it installs and cause a leak. Or too loose a bushing.


Did you heat the Teflon ring in hot water, then bend into a "C" insert and open back up to round?


I've done my 2030 twice, but I did not replace the shaft. It does not leak bad enough for me to spend the money on the shaft :2cents: :ashamed:

Yes, I understand, I will put sims between tractor bushing and the lift arm... Different thickness of rings, wide and narrow ones, as is needed... We will make with turrning-machine... to have no clucking between the pieces...

You have right again - I also so thought to this but unfortunatelly too late.... If the ring is bended - the diameter will increase....

The old shaft was too worn-out, it was recomended to be replaced, and it was not expensive, it cost mee only 30 US dollar.

No 19 is the shim. Order 6 of them and add as needed.
Do not make them ! It s hardened shims and not washers !

A shaft that is moving from side to side act as a hacksaw and will distroy your new seals!

Thanks for observation, I going to be attentive that the shaft be fixed correctly..
